I read a lot of stablecoin whitepapers and I never could find a stablecoin that legitimately graduates from "trust-minimized peepee poopoo garbage with sprinkles on top" to "trustless." I don't think it's possible.
the closest I ever saw was an unpegged stablecoin whose contract stares at external uniswap USDT pairs before deciding how much ETH needs to be backing it so that it has enough volatility dampening to appear stable. the whole thing can't work in a vacuum. other attempts involve simple overcollateralization of things like USDC. if they don't allow centralized stables in the collateral, they lose their peg, so they just become USDC proxies. I wonder what will happen to freezeable USDC that is being used to prop up pretend decentralized stablecoins.

there's nothing wrong with having a smart contracts ZK rollup on top of bitcoin. it's a good offchain scaling solution and it's the best way to keep useless tokens and NFTs out of the base layer. rollups are the most popular offchain scaling solution in the world right now and people even use them to make simple payments.

who is ark for? it's for people who already decided that the UX of self-custody lightning is in an unacceptable state. the bar is higher. if ark is just as shitty as lightning then nothing is gained.
clArk is too interactive. the user has to do something to the money that they have in the ASP all the time so that it can't get stolen. this will cause problems especially for people who want to use it infrequently or on their phone. a person who won't manage their own lighting channels is not gonna still look after an always on computer just so they can use ark instead.
I don't think ark will appeal to the exact kind of people who would use it unless it has CTV and maybe CSFS. clArk is just a proof of concept. you need the full thing or it will not catch on.

this is actually not my biggest gripe with the US education curriculum. there is a bigger problem. the amount of instruction on communism is very small, right? well the amount of instruction on personal finance is even smaller. it's almost nothing.
the only thing I can recall that was compulsory for all students was a "baby project" from health class. you're supposed to simulate a budget in case you get your teenage girlfriend pregnant and you decide not to have an abortion. the entire purpose of the project is to make you believe that having a baby and being a parent will put you in extreme poverty and you will be miserable for the rest of your life. it's just antinatalist propaganda. it doesn't actually teach you about budgeting.

the US public education system spends more time on hitler shit than any other single topic. there is a holocaust course module every single year for at least 8 years. sometimes it takes up a third of the english class plus a third of the history class during a given year. I have even heard of schools where they just have an entire class called "holocaust class." students always see at least one movie about jews dying along with hundreds of photographs and it is very common for a school to be visited by a holocaust survivor.
instruction on communism might happen for a small fraction of just one class during just three years. the curriculum usually focuses on china and russia only. there is tons of useless information about the romanovs and rasputin. you don't learn anything about cambodia or other places. the number of movies shown about communism might be zero for the entire duration of public school. the best you can hope for is animal farm. people who survived communism are never invited to give a presentation.

if at least one miner doesn't have severe autism, even the knots nodes will save these into a block. the filters are placebo.
a lot of people are into cryptocurrency (yes bitcoin is one of those, satoshi called it that) because they expect returns. and they won't interact with anything that they are not certain will give them returns. they may even think that's all there is to it. if you are one of those people you are gonna be really confused when you meet someone who doesn't care as much. I don't need returns to convince me of utility. it's nice when it happens. ideally I should be getting both. but if I am getting returns but not the utility I want, I'm not going to think that's enough for me. if that still confuses you, too bad.
I literally don't think that bitcoin is going down the path of scalable self-custody. I think most of the developers either don't care about that anymore or they are too chickenshit to do any opcodes that may be required. it's going to take a lot of shifts in the community to change my mind about this. if it happens, I will be very happy. but it is very frustrating for me to sit here and see people shilling ecash as a replacement for monero right now and bragging about all sorts of things that actually haven't been accomplished yet and might never happen at all. I'd love if bitcoin actually became good enough to replace monero. fucking do it.
