This isn't gloating. This is asking why Apple fanbois gate freedom so much they are willing to bend the knee as far as asked.

How does one choose decentralization and compliance with central authority simultaneously? I will never understand it. The signs that Apple was going to kill this came weeks ago, but even now people live a delusion.

Is Google evil? Yes...that's undeniable. But clearly Apple is far more insidious in it's effort to directly control it's users. When there is an iPhone equivalent to a GraphteneOS or the myriad of other options, or at least sidrloading apps is supported Apple-wide I'll feel differently. But this is nothing but pure greed, and they have you guys over a barrel.

And I'm sorry, a US News opinion article on the Google search engine nobody uses unless they don't care about privacy or censorship isn't relevant to this discussion. You can use Android hardware without funding Google, or with just a single hardware purchase if you choose a Pixel. You can't stop funding Apple in their ecosystem. You have no choices.

Every penny spent on an Apple product or service (including 30% of every purchase through appstore apps) funds their corruption. Your music, your next iphone, your earpods, that new charger...all bankrolling coordinated efforts to censor, control and wage war on disruptive technologies like Nostr and Bitcoin.

And every bit of money spent on Apple products and in their ecosystem still funds their censorship here, in China, everywhere else.

Mass Stockholm Syndrome

Boycott the damn company. They are not your friend. They do not want anything but your money and control of you. I don't care how good people think their hardware is, they are corrupt. Good developers are wasting their time trying to build decentralized apps where they need permission from a central authority on what they are allowed to do. Build around, not comply.

They don't want any zaps at all now, because it's not through Applepay.

Problem is now everyone with iPhones are trying to figure out how to "circumvent" this by shutting off updates, sideloading through some sketchy hack, etc. All so they can pay Apple for music. And what are they going to do when they buy the next iPhone model? Because they will. It's the business model.

When do people have enough and boycott them? Stop funding evil. If you own a device, by all means get your use out of it, but every penny going to Apple is money spent on censorship and control.
