I drink tea and I learn things

Why are humans so obsessed with categorizing things?

Best take on AI I have heard yet. TLDR: AI is not the apocalypse. Lots of people are confused about how large language models work. It’s not a truth machine it’s a word machine. Creative content will be spoken into existence. The internet will lose whatever credibility it has left as a source of truth and that’s a good thing.

This is equivalent to saying I “found” the rest of the 21 million Bitcoin that haven’t need mined yet. Necessary disclaimer: I’m not saying gold is better than Bitcoin. However we need to avoid being intelligently dishonest when it explaining why Bitcoin is better

I apologize to my followers who followed me for the #OpenSourceDaily expecting a post every day. I’m already kinda bored of doing that. I will still post cool open source projects just not every day.

If everyone built and verified every piece of software they ran themselves we would only have time for about 10 projects to exist

Not necessarily. If this random picture from the internet is correct, then it only applies to debt that the banks owned before march 12th

Good evening, today’s #OpenSourceDaily project is https://github.com/postgres/postgres PostgreSQL is a database management system written in C with a custom license. It has become the database system of choice for many open source projects for good reason. In addition to standard features like transactions, user defined types, and subqueries, it includes many advanced features like replication, extensions and advanced json support. It runs on just about any operating system and there are easy to use docker images and community helm charts that can be scaled all the way up to enterprise use cases.

Eurodollars and stablecoins are a promise from a third party to pay you a promise from a bank to pay you a green piece of paper which used to be a promise to pay you a piece of metal.

When (if?) they re-enable withdrawals there will be arbitrage to bring it back to $1 but if there’s too much arbitrage then they will have to turn off withdrawals again. At that point it’s Katie bar the door as everyone runs for the exit

If they actually can process the demand for withdrawals it will go back to $1 otherwise it will go to 0. It’s kinda an all or nothing

I like Umbrel because I can run it alongside other stuff on my server with the install command. I don’t want to go down the rabbit hole of setting up a full blown VM to run start9 but I’ll probably have to do that at some point. I wish there was a solid way to use containers in place of a VM but we’re not quite there yet
