Proof of Stake fundamentally does not solve the Byzantine Generals Problem. It cheats by promoting a field marshall and restoring centralisation in a round-about way. It's an insidious piece of propaganda engineered to reintroduce fiat. Don't fall for it. There is no second best. #bitcoin
I'm sure that's partly why they're embraced so enthusiastically by globo-fiat statists, but I'd argue that spectator sports emerged naturally from a cooperative/competitive streak in human nature. When engaged in organically and out of genuine spontaneity, it's a wonderful example of unifying the bonds and diffusing the tensions between potentially hostile communities, especially on a more local level, where they maybe compete for resources. Just another noble, freemarket phenomenon, co-opted for nefarious purposes by the State.
I was thinking something along those lines myself. Or maybe just a solid piece of arty metalwork or something
Same here. Especially after the fiasco surrounding RBF, it's time to take stock and slow down "innovation" for innovations sake. We should take time to properly stress test every soft fork, something which really takes years. I think there's a fair argument to be had that all future development should naturally be self limited to layer 2 and below. I guess it's up to the nodes and the market to start enforcing that. For my part, I'm sticking with v23 for now unless there's a very good reason to upgrade.
Nothing truly good or meaningful in life is easy. That's why it has to be proof of work.
Ditto, 4am just got puked on 👌
Fiat Rockefeller gonna fiat
When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
I would recommend a second SSD where you can play with Linux until you get the hang of it. A Debian based distro like Ubuntu or PopOS provides a perfect out-of-the-box experience and lets you start getting used to working in the terminal. Once you crack the basics you'll never want to go back to windows as a daily driver. I wouldn't use arch as my first foray into Linux personally.
Why dual boot initially? As many have pointed out gaming compatibility can be problematic. Proton has come a hell of a long way but sometimes you just want something to work and work well in your downtime without faff. Also, unfortunately ,a lot of productivity apps like the Adobe CC need windows. You can get them running on Linux.. just about.. but frankly it's a shit experience. Also, there are times when you'll still just need that dirty second OS to get something running quickly (and you don't have time to track through stack overflow for 3 hours in pursuit of exceptionally high IQ solutions, fun as it may be)..
Umbrel? That seems to be the fix for a lot of issues.
What was broken??
Cryptocurrency: The Future of Money by Vigna and Casey. Got about halfway through the ludicrous midwittery before being fully orange pilled. A shameful purchase.
