I got this advice from my cable company, where do they think I live?

“Scammers often disguise themselves as trusted entities like the IRS”

Yes, check out the “Deploy it yourself” section here: https://github.com/getAlby/hub

There’s a script that makes it easy to get going on a Linux server. Since it’s something more experimental (and for the kids), you can just turn it on whenever you want to make it available.

Excuse my density, but the documentation refers to a server. Do I need to partition part of my hard drive and install as root?

Thanks, here's my problem. I finally got Core Lightning running and connected so that I can collect sats from my Bitaxe mining on Ocean. (lightning payouts require Core Lightning). I cannot add Alby Hub in Umbrel without an LND lightning node. I've seen dire warnings about trying to run two different lightning nodes on an Umbrel. I'd like to try Alby with a Cashu backend but I don't know how. Is it feasible to run Alby Hub on a laptop that is not kept running all the time? My home laptop is a Linux Mint device.

Just trying to understand more of the ecosystem. Tried to set up wallets for the kids using LNBOLTS on an Umbrel, but had to close the Lightning Node when I couldn’t figure out how to get sats out. Hoping if I can figure out Cashu I can set up wallets for the kids

Ack! I can’t figure out how to connect my cashu.me wallet to Primal. Primal says “here’s an NWC string, paste it into the app you want to connect to” Cashu.me says “heres an NWC string, paste it into the app you want to connect to” help nostr:npub12vkcxr0luzwp8e673v29eqjhrr7p9vqq8asav85swaepclllj09sylpugg nostr:npub12rv5lskctqxxs2c8rf2zlzc7xx3qpvzs3w4etgemauy9thegr43sf485vg

Stateless! You can pull the SD card out after it’s booted up. Everything happens in RAM. If a bad guy finds it, it’s a blank slate. Even if he finds the SD card, it’s only the OS. It’s built for easy multisig. Plausible deniability for the $5 wrench attack. Plus I’m a boomer, and it’s very easy to use

What a world! Running Sparrow wallet on a Tails thumb drive. Loaded up a couple seeds on my Seedsigner and moved some sats to my Aqua wallet via peg-in from a 2 of 3 wallet. Seed QRs returned to their locations. Thumb drive removed and Seedsigner powered down. The only evidence of the transaction is the entry on the blockchain. Pretty miraculous for an old GUI bound boomer! #seedsigner #tailsos #torproject #sparrow #livefree

K, so, I have to reflash my Bitaxe. While I’m doing it, I’ll want to point to ocean.xyz and use Datum. But that’s got a dependency: I’ve got to switch from Bitcoin core on an Umbrel to Bitcoin Knots on a Start 9. I’m a point and click Boomer and I’m running out of Fiat. I think this is my path. 1) get Start 9. 2) migrate from Umbrel to Start 9 3) migrate from Bitcoin Core to Bitcoin Knots. 4) Reflash and restart Bitaxe. #asknostr I’m a boomer, pretty GUI dependent, but I’m not *scared* of terminal. Running Linux Mint OS. Umbrel is running on a Raspberry Pi. HOW DO I MIGRATE FROM CORE TO KNOTS WITHOUT REDOWNLOADING THE BLOCKCHAIN?

Aye, but the day may come when they no longer accept your printed papers for Bitcoin

I can’t get over how awesome my #SeedSigner is! Working on moving my stacked sats from single sig to multi sig. load up all the keys on a single device, sit down to Sparrow. Test and send. FOSS, stateless. Once I’m done, the device is clear. Hey nostr:npub103m96sra82w4agghew9cdxtzs4s8sl7qsjsvw6h653yml0gjrkzqefd3h5 , haven’t heard you mention it yet, check it out!

Took the fam up to Mt Hood yesterday to play in the snow, coming down off the north side to Hood River, and I see a sign : “ODELL 4 miles” Wife and kids wouldn’t have understood if I slammed on the brakes to get a photo, but I’m happy to see the State of Oregon knew to make it ALL CAPS
