I met a South Tirole forex trader.
South tirol is in the mountain valleys in the north of a Italy, and they speak a dialect of German.
I struck up a convo because he was staring at currency charts and scribbling in a notebook.
Adjusting his algorithm he explained. He doesn't trade the USD (too many do that already), just other currencies. He makes 12% annually following his algorithm.
I asked if he likes Bitcoin.
No, he isn't interested in stocks or Bitcoin because they react to news, and it's too complicated to trade.
He explained he hadn't done any formal studies and worked as a seasonal farm laborer. The next apple and cherry harvest in Australia was going to put some cash in his pocket.
Farm work grinds down more than strengthens. Carrying 20 pound belts up fruit trees is not easy on shoulders and backs.
He was struggling with the yield question. How to make money from money versus working.
It's ironic that he finds himself far away from the farms of northern Italy in Bitcoin country and dealing with currencies but still not into bitcoin. It will be the perfect fit if he will be able to apply his algorithm ideas to Bitcoin.
I just don't see any trading being useful apart from perhaps selling and buying back covered calls on Micro$trategy. But I haven't figured that one out.
Making 12 percent when the stock market is going down is a very useful skill. Maybe in 2026 I'll be asking him about his algorithm.
And he called the mother to give the news... That blows my mind.

why do we overcomplicate things so much
First nightmare in 6months happened long time last night.
I was walking into my apartment and my partner had moved out with all his things and the rugs. I looked at the bare floor. A toy boat from childhood was still decorating a shelf.
Someone knocked at the door, and it was a consignment auctioneer. My feelings of unease increased with the man in my apartment and as something flew past a window outside.
It was a drone. It beamed a red laser beam into my eyes like a barcode scanner. I immediately knew to not look at it.
The laser chased me around the apartment as I ran to the closet and curled into ball.
I awoke with my heart racing and in a state of fear. This wasn't adrenaline or fear of death.
It was fear of subjugation.
At this point, it's not paranoia. I know that my android phone can read my mind.
Or at least the biggest thought or most repetitive concept that my train of thought forms into unspoken words.
Case in point:
I was on a beach with no wifi. I see a German shepherd dog playing with his owners child in the sand. I think to myself, " what a well-trained beautiful German shepherd".
The next time I check my phone and scroll down to see the next TFTC Bitcoin podcast, there is a video short of German shepherd dogs that I have to scroll past.
I don't watch videos of dogs, or reels, or anything besides long-form financial stuff.
This is at least the 5th, highly specific thing that Google has taken from my inner monologue in the past years.
The last internal question was Schrader versus Regular bike tire valves. My phone displayed to me the answer the next time I looked at it. I don't know how that's just predicting.
I don't know how it works, but I know at least the words that I dwell on in my mind seem to translate to the Google algo.
Could just be LLM predictions. maybe my brain is so simple they can guess within 5 topics what I'm thinking about.
In my search for the amazing elusive El Salvador coffee that I've heard so much about, I drank a 2$ Americano at the local coffee shop.
The young barista didn't have change for a 10$ so her friend at the counter paid the 2$ for me. He insisted with a laugh.
I asked if he had Bitcoin app, he shook his head.
The common perception I get here is that people are aware of it but suspicious.

Then you get Ser Sleepy, who has done more than anyone to show he doesn't give a fuck about not only Digit, but anything at all; then Derek Ross, who has me muted and does not give a fuck about Digit; then Noshole, who does not seem to give a fuck about Digit; then finally you get another possible fuck-giver with Will, but have you gotten to one person who definitely gives a fuck? Nope. 3 fucking people who MIGHT give a fuck, and ZERO PEOPLE WHO CLEARLY REALLY DO, is all you get after scrolling past 11 people who clearly don't.
Nostr users are seriously a fucking dumb crowd right now and it sucks. Keep laughing and die.
Ohhhh... I did see the primal trending feed yesterday when I tried to onboard someone who is an iPhone user. It is very Bitcoin centric which is a plus for some, and not so much for others. I don't see that in other clients.
I was thinking about this the other day. The celebrities are a jumping off point. I think they know that and they can't love all of us. Some do a really good job like Jeff.
For example, my journey started by following Jack, and then finding people with responses to him..and then I slowly moved up the trunk of the tree to the smaller branches to the leaves.
So the celebrities are like the germinating seed of this tree of finding people with interests like me. I especially like this tree that started with Nostr :-) but it's also my first social media so I am biased.
