The democrats want to lose the election.

I'd normally just write off wild claims like this, but it fits too well. If you have noticed and dislike the culture wars, you probably want to take a few minutes to watch this.

The way the DNC fucked Bernie in 2016 has solidified for me that either party will do whatever they must to maintain the status quo. I'm honestly surprised trump ever managed to get through, given how much of a wild card he is.

I remember people would say Gameboys were made of Nintendium -- a fictional indestructible material. Probably because they were built with hardware that was already fairly out of date, so it was already well understood and able to be built super robust.

Teams runs in Linux, and the rest of the suite is in the browser these days anyway. The ms suite is no excuse to stick to windows anymore 😉

Shower thought:

Society could continue to function in a zombie apocalypse with a fully renewable grid with bitcoin mining with autonamous load balancing. Electricity will continue to run, and Bitcoin will, too.

Eventually the grid will need maintenance, but it will last a lot longer than a non-renewable grid. Plus the people still alive don't have to resort to bottle caps or bullets for trade 😁

There is a world of difference between the "follows only" style of nostr vs Primal's "trending". Trending is more active, but it's mostly noise.

It was aight. They tried to cram a little too much "hey, remember this from Mario????" into it, but still fun.

Maybe ipv6 is the way to go for maximum resiliency?

My credit union has been down for a week thanks to a ransomware attack. Funds are obviously SAFU because it's all just digits on a database.. but imagine if they were allowed to hold bitcoin & altcoins? That shit would be gone and irreversible.

Remember this the next time you're cheering on the banks pushing for permission to custody assets.

I've accidentally deleted at least 10 meticulously drafted posts since its implementation.

Can we get l something 2 step like an "are you sure you want to do this?" prompt or make the swipe reveal a red trash button that must be confirmed before the post is deleted?

Thx

Android really needs an undo gesture. I miss this most after ditching iOS.

Maybe the address itself won't need DNS, but you still need DNS to find your nostr relays, right?

I always thought it would make a ton of sense to do major roadwork and infrastructure improvements through the pandemic. People needed work, and roads/trains and such were empty. But of course, seemingly nobody jumped on this opportunity.

Wind turbines are beautiful. I grew up in a town with a bunch of them out in the hills.

**Hackers exploit critical D-Link DIR-859 router flaw to steal passwords**

If you or anyone you know is using this device, now would be a good time to upgrade.

https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/hackers-exploit-critical-d-link-dir-859-router-flaw-to-steal-passwords/

"Hackers are exploiting a critical vulnerability that affects all D-Link DIR-859 WiFi routers to collect account information from the device, including passwords.

The security issue was disclosed in January and is currently tracked as CVE-2024-0769 (9.8 severity score) - a path traversal flaw that leads to information disclosure.

Although D-Link DIR-859 WiFi router model reached end-of-life (EoL) and no longer receives any updates, the vendor still released a security advisory explaining that the flaw exists in the "fatlady.php" file of the device, affects all firmware versions, and allows attackers to leak session data, achieve privilege escalation, and gain full control via the admin panel.

D-Link is not expected to release a fixing patch for CVE-2024-0769, so owners of the device should switch to a supported device as soon as possible."

What the hell does fatlady.php do? 😂

1000%. If you aren't a sysadmin expert, you probably should not be running an LN node. You're at way higher risk of fucking something up than getting rug pulled by a custodial wallet

I mostly run my routing node so I have liquidity ready to go when I want to use it. Custodial lightning is too expensive.
