finally, the first thing I've heard from any candidate that's actually interesting.

I have a 3 sat/vbyte tx that's been stuck for 8 months 🫠

I've had stubborm tests that just could not be fixed no matter what I did. CI can be hell sometimes

This has been my experience.

I've onboarded plenty of people in my time. None of them are Twitter Carnivore Bros and none of them engage with the bitcoin "community". Frankly I didn't even know there was a toxic bitcoin Twitter until somewhat recently. Go figure Twitter of all places would foster a toxic community 🙄

the internet was more fun when it was something that you log into rather than something you have in your pocket.

It's definitely doing some work! Nothing my little box can't handle though 😃

The number of channels has nothing to do with the complexity of keeping a Linux system running. The reality is most non-sysadmin people try, get lost or burnt out on maintaining it, then give up.

I don't see why these users wouldn't use something like Phoenix (aside from them not working in the US anymore, ofc)

I've been doing this with peerswap. 100ish sat rebalances. Super exciting to see more people catching on!

You are more likely to lose sats running a node you don't know how to properly maintain than using a custodian.

People are running LN on toy computers running off SD cards that fail, with storage that isn't replicated, all on systems they aren't familiar with.

I've been using Linux for decades, and some aspects of my LN node still keep me up at night. What do these people that aren't devops experts do when their hard drive crashes, or some random service stops working, or their node partners crush them with force-closures fees?

Sorry, but running a full-ass lightning node is not for normies. Run a mobile node that handles most of the shit for you.

Lightning will get cheaper as more node runners start using liquid to rebalace their nodes. LN fees go up as on-chain fees go up because they need to cover their costs. 100-ish sat rebalances go a long way in fixing that.

I'd love to hear of an alternative smart phone that gives similar privacy and security assurances.

Not everybody needs or wantd all the fancy Spyware features Google puts on their phone. I just want something that has some internet access and apps.

Has anyone else noticed a significant overlap between people that are into Metal music and people that are into (and highly competent with) Linux?

Not personally a metalhead, but this has been a common enough occurrence in my life that I'm noticing a pattern.

Capy, take all my sats

My feed is 80% capybara facts.

The instant Facebook switched to an algo feed, it stopped being fun. Everyone bitched about it for a week then moved on and kept using it..
