That’s a new high or maybe a new low fits better. At least they let you know.

Send it up, I have bills to pay. Send it down, I want to stack more. Yield fugazzi everywhere. Please like and don’t forget to comment on my shitposting below. And please subscribe if you don’t like it.

At this point not really as long as it works without having to tinker and find workarounds after every update.

I need a new notebook to give QubeOS another try. Any hardware recommendations? Framework actually worked quite well, but battery life was awful. #asknostr

They probably ran out of ideas what else they could track. Just another hint of how ridiculous the whole gdpr thing is. Datensparsamkeit 🤣

I spent an inordinate amount of time this week (literally hours watching YouTube reviews and reading reviews) researching phone cases and glass screen protectors for my new Pixel 9 Pro XL.

I really wish more case manufacturers would focus on enhancing the phone's design rather than changing it. IMO, most cases take a $1500 sleekly designed phone and make it look cheap.

Anyway, here were my requirements:

Glass Screen Protector:

- Easy to install with alignment tool

- Drop test protection

- Scratch resistant (9H hardness)

- High optical clarity

- Minimal/no rainbowing effect with polarized lenses

- Precise cutouts

- Full coverage without camera cutout

- Case compatibility

- Front and back camera coverage

- Minimal to no impact on photo/video quality

- Does not affect fingerprint recognition

- Does not affect swipe/gesture functionality

- Oleophobic coating for smudge resistance

- Reasonable cost

Case:

- Minimalist design

- Slim profile with solid drop protection

- Raised corner lips for screen protection

- Raised lip rear camera protection

- Responsive, clicky buttons

- Unimpeded swipe functionality

- Easy port access

- Precise cutouts

- Minimal dust collection points

- Balanced grip (not too slick/rough)

- Fingerprint-resistant

- Lightweight and compact

- MagSafe compatibility (bonus)

- Microfiber interior (preferred)

- Design enhancement, not detraction

- Full NFC and Qi2 charging compatibility

- Heat dissipation

- Reasonable cost

After extensive research, I settled on Spigen for both:

Case: Spigen Tough Armor (Matte Black)

Cost: $15.99 (on sale)

- Pros: Meets most requirements

- Compromises: No MagSafe, lacks microfiber interior

Screen Protection: Spigen Glass Protectors (front and back)

Cost: 18.99 + $14.99

- Spigen Camera Lens Protector [GlasTR EZ FIT Optik]

- Spigen Tempered Glass Screen Protector [GlasTR EZ FIT]

- Pros: Meets all requirements, includes applicator and spare protector

- Compromises: May not match Zagg's drop protection, might cause some blurring with telephoto lens (will test)

Total cost (before tax): $49.97

While this combination might not be everyone's ideal choice, I feel it is a well-researched balance of protection, functionality, and design. I'll let you know how the real world test goes when they arrive. Hope this helps others in their search for a reasonably solid Pixel 9 Pro XL protection setup at a reasonable price.

I settled some years ago on spigen for cases and just buy them for all devices. Of course some day they will let me down and I'll have to research again. Not today tho. As screen protection I simply use privacy screens. And no, I haven't found any that are actually good.

And that can work. But that is not directly related to my comment on which I might expand at some point. Just let me say, the term and practices have been so misused that after nearly 20years of working with teams and companies I simply burned out.

Thinking about agile a lot lately. Maybe I'm not done with it yet after all.

I would not recommend Liberty in Costa Rica or Moviestar in El Salvador. Terrible experience with both of them.

Finally I get some notifications. Felt left out

Linux and graphene only for nearly a month. I would call that progress.

So my nuc crashed, doesn't find a bootable device and I'm half a planet away. Nice end of year.

Starting to like rust and zig after some initial aversion. I could also be that I'm just tired of js. I never really liked it and even less since it has become the monstrosity it is now. Even php was more fun. Anyone remember php3?

Doing it every single day. And btw, iOS is crap. I spend so much time fighting issues with it since I turned on lockdown mode, that even windows is easier to maintain. When searching on the web, the most common solution is to turn of lockdown mode. But I'm not doing that. Just one less reason to use it even for normie stuff.

iOS is a piece of crap.

This is becoming increasingly frustrating. Brave helps sometimes, sometimes switching VPN to stealth, hidden, whatever mode does the job. But more and more often these workarounds fail.

And they are probably right, because I did give them my time
