Great question, and I don’t think anyone has provided this proactive approach yet, so let me take a stab at it. First, understanding that sometimes “coaching” your significant other on something she isn’t an expert at or isn’t passionate about is difficult. For example, when racing MTB professionally I did not personally teach my wife how to ride. She wanted to improve her skills, so we found a women’s camp for her to attend with a coach she would learn from without taking criticism personally. Additionally, the financial investment motivated her to really take it seriously and overall it was a very empowering, positive experience. I can absolutely relate as anytime I attempt to seriously communicate about this topic with my rebel wife it can only be on her time, and I’ve learned that collectively scheduling a time is half the battle. The other isn’t exactly the how, it rather who is “coaching” her through this information.
