Homesteading, Permaculture, Bitcoin, Freedom. All one or all none!

Cannabis starts are planted in the rabbit colony!

Selected the 12 largest plants of each of the f1 crosses (pineapple pomegranate x super lemon haze)

The roots were ready for a bigger pot a few days ago better transplanted sooner than later.

Each plant gets 10gal composted horse manure broad forked in along with 5gal of sheep manure packed straw as mulch. Will add more throughout the summer. Rows are planted on counter with the slope for maximum water catchment.

After growing and breeding cannabis for a few years, I have finally arrived at a method which requires no outside inputs. Seed from previous seasons, growing substrate various compost/sand/soils found on the homestead, pots used 1gal vinegar jugs, rabbit exclusion rings from prior seasons. The only true expense this season has been my time.

By integrating the rabbits and the cannabis together I get higher yields of both. The rabbits weed and fertilize the cannabis and the excess cannabis feeds the rabbits. The cannabis will also provide shade and additional protection for the rabbits. After last seasons failures, I'm excited to see what this system can produce this go around!

From my narrow understanding, it's a way to choose plants to maximize photosynthesis and yeild over periods of succession in the system. Designing for anticipated change while filling niches symbiotically. I'm sure the hugel culture technique could be used when applying the concept.

Katahdin hair sheep heading to ideal pasture

Pasture like this is what I'm trying to achieve all across the homestead. Good mix of legumes and grass with other plants for diversity. Not too tall, stemmy or seedy. Just heaps of exactly what the sheep love to eat. This paddock also has built in shade and water in the form of a spring. The will be here for 3 days or so.

Southwest Michigan Bitcoin meetups is pretty much also a nostr meetup. Lots of nostr discussion going on there.

My recommendation is to start with a couple feeder ram lambs. You'll need a way to get them shade, water, and salt/mineral from paddock to paddock. You could use a couple electric net fences and some sort of Energizer to make small paddocks in the larger fenced in areas. We start offering feeders in mid/late july once the lambs are weaned. Then they would be grown out until they get to your desired size or you run out of pasture. You will learn enough from working with the feeders to answer your more specific questions about pasture management. There is too much nuance to make any real recommendations. There are some many trade offs and different ways to go about it.
