Homesteading, Permaculture, Bitcoin, Freedom. All one or all none!

Garlic is done curing

After letting the garlic cure for a few weeks, I cut the stems off and trimmed the roots. Ended up with almost 7lbs. We will save 4lbs for eating and replant the rest. I tried planting a few different ways at few different times last season but the best seemed to be planting early September in sheep manure packed straw. This year I don't think I'll have time to experiment with the garlic so I'll just stick with what worked best last season.

You catch that at lake satoshi?

I'm working towards it. Got most of the lambs sold for Bitcoin this season. Last season we sold over 30% of the lamb for Bitcoin. Best way I've found to earn Bitcoin is to attend Bitcoin meetups and offer high quality goods and services. Then, maintain a positive reputation and support your local Bitcoin community any way you can.

What was the highlight for you? Me was kicking it by the fire late night.

Everyone I met at lake satsoshi this weekend comment here so I can follow you. Too many high signal plebs out there that I want to see in my feed! Gotta do a better job at connecting on here when I meet people in person... Let us unify all bitcoiners and make our own rules.

Looks like you're getting some buds off that weather you water or not!

That's a chestnut tree. I wonder if it could be an american chestnut?

Is it in someone's yard or in a park? Does the branching form look more like a tall main trunk or more low wide branching form?

We had an awesome chat during Meshtadel on the 8th ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป. We talked about so many cool things, and one topic that led me to writing this note was P2P trading (Sats to fiat and/or products).

A lot of Bitcoiners prefer (and they're totally right) P2P trading but here's the deal: most of these P2P trade prices are based as a premium on the current spot price which is determined by comparing the broadcasted value on centralized exchanges (automatically by the P2P exchange or by the actors themselves). Now we are all cheering for the liquidity on those exchanges lessen since this means more traders become HODLers, getting their sats off the exchange, leaving only those sats on the exchange that are A) an urgent sell (a HODLer depositing Sats he plans to sell due to whatever need) B) people who were planning to sell anyway (and C) owned/custodied by the exchange which is one of the argumentations to get our sats off the exchange)

So all that we have on those exchanges is A) sell pressure, B) Weak hands (and C) Manipulation utxo's)

Not arguing to use centralized exchanges more, but rather asking the question: Is there not a better way for P2P price discovery than what we are seeing now.

The answer of the "why" for the current situation is in my simple understanding (read: I am just guessing ) : this is what the market demands. But the market demands that because the market is looking for a measuring stick.

As a lot of Bitcoin-'educators' pointed out already: Fiat is a broken measuring stick, but even when trading P2P we are still falling for that broken measuring stick.

Maybe it is time for the Sat/egg index ๐Ÿคญ. The amount of Sats that the market valuates a specific daily useable good that is sensitive to inflation, preferably fulfilling one of the basic needs (such as in the egg example food.)

Maybe revhodl@vida.live could create a Sats-to-Lamb index we can follow ๐Ÿ˜‰

When I try to buy Bitcoin from someone at a meetup... Most of the time no sats for sale. I've had better experience earning Bitcoin p2p at meetups by offering products that those at the meetup want to buy.

Hop on nests with me and the Meshtadel. We're talking, self sovereignty, homesteading, permaculture, Bitcoin and more.

I think they will be okay, but it's definitely a complex dance when trying to keep everything integrated and working together. It's rock paper scissors but with like 5 more variabless.

Sheep ate my chestnut trees

Even though the young chestnut trees have cages protecting them, I have still been excluding them from the sheep when grazing this paddock just to be safe.

We recently used the sheep to over graze the paddock these trees are planted in but I failed to exclude the sheep this time. They ended up completely defoliating the trees.

Thankfully, there has been plenty of rain since the sheep munched on the chestnuts and they are starting to grow new leaves. I think they will be just fine but nearly a mistake which would have destroyed years of work.

Once I have all the ingredients it's pretty quick to get everything fermenting. Took a few hours to get the 6 flavors fermenting. These have taken over a month to ferment. The biggest drag is the time it takes to clean and prep all the bottles. Takes a few hours of just scrubbing, rinsing, and sanitizing. No matter how I store the bottles they always need a thorough cleaning before bottling. Fastest I've gone from fermenting to drinking has been 3 weeks and I've waited months before bottling too.

Pear cider is ready to bottle

Bottled up 4 flavors of pear cider. Wild rose and Spicebush, dandelion and burdock root, and white clover. Pears came from a neighbor's tree in his front yard and all other ingredients were wild foraged here on the homestead.

Each should be between 5 and 6 percent alcohol by volume. My favorite is the wild rose and spicebush but the most surprising is the white clover very clean refreshing summer taste but still nice and dry.
