Tomorrow, January 3rd, at 8pm Eastern time I will host a Nostr Nests discussing permaculture with a few other permies I've known for several years. We will go deep on what permaculture is and cover what we are working on more broadly then get people up on stage to ask some questions. If you're a permie hungry for some solid discussion or someone who is interested in learning more about permaculture this nest is going to have something for everyone. It is my intention to host these discussions on the first Wednesday of every month so let's kick the first one of the year off together!

This makes me think there could be some sort of testnet game for plebs to test out the bips. Like a sims style game to emulate a marketplace. Some way to make testing out new features of Bitcoin fun and to find ways to break it. Does something like this exist?

Cannabis harvest is about to commence!

These are the best expressions of the super lemon haze x pineapple pomegranate cross I've been working on. (any ideas for names welcome) This season all 9 remaining plants are back crossed with pollin from the original pineapple pomegranate genetics I started with from Massive Seed Co. out of Oregon.

I like to harvest slowly over the month of October to make sure I get some buds early if mold gets bad and get plenty of perfectly ripe bud too if conditions are favorable. Looking forward to some tasty finger hash!!

Last season was a bit of a let down with a small harvest and no viable seed but this year is looking to make up for it. Plus, I've got some new genetics in the mix with white widow and gold leaf thanks to connecting and trading seed at my local Bitcoin meetup.

Seeds from these beautiful plants are available now! I will be shipping another round of seed packs next week, comment below if you would like me to ship you some. Choices are: Redbud Haze, White Widow x Pineapple Pomegranate and Gold Leaf x Pineapple Pomegranate. 24 seeds for $24 plus shipping ~$5

I'm looking forward to popping these seeds in just about 6 weeks from now to kick off the 2024 growing season. Keep them fresh in the freezer until you are ready to start growing.

When I hear criticism of federated custodial solutions, I think people fail to realize that most will not be able to use Bitcoin in a non custodial way. The good news is, unlike current systems, a custodial user will always be able to work their way into financial sovereignty and can permissionlessly move away from custodians when they can afford to. It will be in the federations best interest to do good by thier users because the competition will be great. Bitcoin is a force for decentralization of all things after all isn't it...

What kind of yeild breakdown are you getting? How much money do you spend on inputs vs how much cannabis the system can produce? Looks like you are growing some high quality cannabis with the methods you're using.

I'm not sure I understand your question. It will last forever by proxy of the incentive to maintain the monetary aspect of Bitcoin. Because Bitcoin is also money, all participants have a high incentive to continue using and maintaining it.

Other libraries can be burned, lost, and forgotten, bitcoin is more resilient.

I don't know if the inscription technique will be the dominant way to keep records on Bitcoin. I think there are plenty of other more simple ways to do it. One idea would be to hash a file and put the hash in the op return of a transaction. Now you can prove the files fidelity from this reference point forward. The sender and receiver could also have some role in the validity of the information to have more confidence it wasn't fake or wildly inaccurate. The cost of transaction fees would also create an incentive to put information that was as valuable or more valuable than the fee of the transaction. So there's three elements at play, the hash of the file, the key holders of the the transaction and the fees of the transaction that could all be used together to help verify the integrity of trustworthiness of information.

I think a tithe-like practice might emerge where people wanting to record information will send a transaction the burns some Bitcoin to the Genesis address for example. They would be sacrificing purchasing power for the small benefit of everyone else in the network, they would be paying a fee too which they could also choose to be generous with, and record a ceremonious event like a birth, marriage, death, ect. This could also be a way to make informational donations to the network forming a library of sorts. It could be called the museum of satoshi.

The biggest use is that of a high fidelity record. Bitcoin is excellent at storing information, theoretically, for as long as it exists with true fidelity. This means it's an excellent source for recording and studying history. I think one of the problems with society is that recorded history is so easily forgotten or manipulated over long periods of time. If the records had better fidelity then maybe society would be better equipped to build upon itself rather than continuing to rise and fall.

The mission from God was my joke, but a conference, I think that's a good idea, not that the knowledge is hidden or divine though. The curation of information is what's becoming important. With so many podcasts, classes, private groups, ect these days it's a lot like a favorite band. There might be so many other bands in the same genre and sound similar to many others but for some reason this band has a sound you like. I think the same is true for informational curation, people like the currators for their choices and voice in the presentation of the information.

I think Bitcoin has a successional nature to it which means it's prominent use cases will always be in flux and that many haven't been considered or utilized yet. I see a lot of opinions about what Bitcoin is and what it's for. Many of which think it's only use is "money". This I disagree with and find myself obligated to share my thoughts.

The key point here is getting outside the box, it seems. I don't know what you are referring to with the original note, but I do think there is plenty of room for philosophical discussion around Bitcoin. Too see it as merely a mechanism or technology is to see it from within the box.

I like cannabis for thinking outside the box.
