Social media consciousness. As if fed by the forms of the previous experience (ie. legacy social media platforms), a kind of criteria grows along the forms of the experience at hand

The question `How the world (protocols) and behaviors (user errands) should be in-around this novel experience (nostr and so)?', usually is clearer to solve after noticing a deception in the previous forms of a similar kind of experience (censorship, spamming, etc)

My two sats bet are with the commons of the sense of place (the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genius_loci) as the lecture of the world/person one gets as short (and so forth) as one peeks a view of the self or someone else's profile (feed, compilation of notes, picture reel, etc.). So for example, one can notice the atmosphere and significance at nostr:npub1f5pre6wl6ad87vr4hr5wppqq30sh58m4p33mthnjreh03qadcajs7gwt3z profile that offers a lecture that confirms both his style (continental forest inhabitant, for say so), as well as his *place-in-the-world* (the social) ; a change in the looks of this profile would suggest a change in the person as well (as if he would start posting about camels and the life in the desert).

In short: post. Note and other stuff. From time to time go look back and get feedback; if unfamiliar, a sweep here-and-there could help the looks.

Does anyone have any recommendations for books or online courses I can start looking into to help get us started. Thank you in advance!

I think Ben falk just came out with a new edition of his book the resilient farm and homestead. And Jack spirco is putting out an online course if it isn't out already. Really like those two guys.

Mostly on telegram, some unknown shows up with deals too go to be true, people pay, but never get the equipment. I've never heard of someone getting hardware with malicious code on it, but no I'm thinking about it. Thanks.

Don't get scammed buying mining equipment, make sure you know who you are buying from personally. If you don't make sure whoever referred the seller to you has made a successful deal and knows them personally. Make sure you confirm who you are communicating with is the actual person you think it is. Do a video call, make sure you have chat history, include trusted individuals in a group chat around the deal. Additionally, consider using multisig tools with additional mutually trusted signers to mitigate scammers. Too many scams going around lately with mining equipment. Be vigilant and don't be fooled by deals that seem too good to be true.

Problem is that Nostr is great for people who post but sub par for those who consume. The biggest criticism I hear is that the desired content is not on nostr. Meanwhile, those producing content are used to jumping through the hoops and avoiding being deplatformed well enough that the work/risk involved to make the switch is greater than the results they get from participating in the gulag. I commend you for shaming all those who continue to participate in systems subsidized by fiat. We, those who use and participate in Bitcoin, are building something else. Those who larp as participants will be punished. Hopefully by shaming them, they can be snapped out of their ignorance and stop fucking losing.

Following along here on Nostr is the best way. I do a Permaculture Nostr nest discussion first Wednesday of every month 8pm eastern time. I also occasionally offer private live stream classes and boots on the ground classes here at the homestead. If you are near southwest Michigan you can book a stay and I can show you all the systems we've built here in person. I am looking to start doing v4v design consultations as well. Basically, there are lots of ways to get the information, I'm trying to make it possible for everyone to learn about how permaculture and Bitcoin lead to a better world!

When it comes to pricing in fiat vs pricing in sats, most of the time pricing in fiat is the way to go but there are some instances where pricing in sats makes sense. Pricing in sats works well for sales in fixed windows of time. For example, I sold admission to the Applied Permaculture Class I held at my homestead for a fixed price in sats but the sales only took place for a one month period prior to the class. This created and interesting opportunity for those who wanted to buy the tickets to play the price volatility to their advantage. Another example, at the Lake Satoshi Retreat last summer I priced all the goods I had for sale in sats. This made it easier to transact over the 2 day event because the reduced friction in calculating prices was worth the risk of any potential price volatility at the time.

It's a way to generate kyc free sats flow by doing work that you would already be doing otherwise, plus owning and controlling hash power is a way to participate in Bitcoin more deeply.

Permaculture Bitcoin Mining Discussion tonight 8pm Eastern on Nostr Nests.

For the March Permaculture Nest tonight, I'll be talking my approach to mining through the permaculture lense. I'll go over some principles of home mining and talk about some of the ways I'm using Bitcoin miners to do work for me. I would be happy to hear about other home mining setups as well as answer questions related to mining in general, home mining and permaculture. Keep an eye out for the link this evening

I've got a clothes dryer, food dehydrator, maple syrup concentrator, I heat a cold frame to grow cannabis, I mine off solar power. Got a lot going on.

Immersion mining with canola oil to concentrate maple sap more quickly

https://v.nostr.build/n997.mp4

I'm using a single S9 hash board immersed in canola oil to heat maple sap to increase the effectiveness of the reverse osmosis sap concentration system.

The weather conditions this season have caused the maple sap to be cold and stay cold which drastically slows down the ability of the RO system to filter water out of it. I ran into a bottle neck where there is more sap than I can keep up with concentrating so I needed to come up with something quickly!

Ideally if the temperature of the sap is 77°f the filter will operate most effectively without damaging the RO membrane. Of course, my mind immediately turned to Bitcoin mining for the heating solution. What I came up with was an immersion system using the homebrew equipment I already had to heat the sap just before it entered the RO. This would allow the majority of the sap to stay cool keeping it from spoiling and still remove the most water possible.

The only thing I didn't have for the immersion system was the dielectric fluid. I had no idea where to find the proper fluid nor did it make sense to pay the high cost for it. The application for this system is very specific and I will only need it until April. I had been joking about using canola oil as dielectric fluid for almost a year but for this situation it seemed like the perfect fit. Canola oil is 70% cheaper than bitcool before shipping and was immediately available!

Amazingly, I put everything together and it worked very well without major adjustments. I tip-toed the voltage and frequency of the single S9 hashboard up slowly to find the right balance in temperatures between the two fluid loops. Ultimately, I ended up with an overclocked board drawing over 600w! By the time I got the system setup and dialed in I was already half way through concentrating this collection of sap. The next collection will offer more concrete data on what this system is capable of. For now, even with the worst S9 board I have, I'm getting a 15% rebate on the total power usage of the whole process and it's definitely concentrating sap more quickly. All for ~$10 of canola oil... 👀

Amazing results from DIY Bitcoin mining maple sap reverse osmosis system.

This reverse osmosis maple sap concentration system utilizes an immersion Bitcoin mining heating loop to improve the efficiency of the system by heating the maple sap before it passed through a reverse osmosis filter. The immersion mining system uses canola oil as the dielectric fluid!

Now that I've had a chance to run several hundred gallons of sap through the system I've have everything pretty dialed in. Depending on the ambient temperature and sap temperature the system is able to concentrate the sap 30-50% faster than before without the immersion mining heating loop. Additionally, the sap is getting concentrated to 7 brix in one pass vs 6 brix which means removing even more water before boiling than before.

The canola oil immersion mining heating loop is providing a 25% rebate on the power usage of the total system after upgrading the vanilla s9 hashboard to an s9j hashboard. So, the system process the sap faster saving time, removes more water saving propane/fuel and boiling time, and it pays a Bitcoin rebate on the power usage. By adding the immersion mining heating loop I've massively expanded the capacity of my existing maple sugaring equipment.

Because the mining system is temporary and I didn't have access to Bitcool or something similar for the dielectric fluid, the canola oil was a cheap readily available alternative. It has been working well with no noticable degradation.

There are some downsides to the system. First I lost a control board because I splashed sap on it. Then I lost two batches of concentrated sap. The heater gets the sap warm promoting the fermentation process, so I wasn't able to start boiling the sap quickly enough in the warmer weather. The bottleneck of the process is definitely at the boiling stage now.

This system can be built for less than $700 and is more efficient than similar systems costing over $2500... Necessity is the mother of invention as they say.
