Good news: Tapes are rolling! Issue 2 exists! Bad news: I misspelled Nashville on every cover that I already did unique drawings on 🤦♂️
Well, I guess I'm going extra punk because I just got whiteout and fixed the mistake. I spelled it "Nasheville".
I got 7 tapes done today, (4.6 hours of taping).
I'll release the digital copy Monday I think ahead of the conference so people can download and listen while they travel. ✈️

It's so nice to hear you say this. I'm coming at it from a kind of different angle from more of a podcast thing. I completely agree with you that turning on my computer feels like I should be responding to email not being creative.
But I will say, editing spoken narration in software is very nice. I want to shift to a tape-first work flow but being able to cut, denoise, and add software noise gates is kinda nice.
Lastly, I'm also trying to get into electronic music. I picked up my first synth and I'm trying to experiment with synth effects on a trumpet (recorded not live).
Problem is, I'm not great at either instrument but hey, it's fun 😀
I'm hoping to run into you in Nashville and I'll give you one! I'll swing by the booth. I'll be easy to spot, I'll have a cassette briefcase, DIY reverse bleach tshirt, and lots of eyeliner one 🤘
For this, I'm keeping it off because I want that sweet, sweet, tape hiss to make it in the final recording.
But if you make a recording for yourself to play back on your own gear, it is pretty amazing at cleaning up the hiss. I think it does so at slightly more compression however, so you have to expirement a bit.
Alright, today is tape mastering day. I say that like I know what I'm doing 🤣
I just try to get the levels mainly at 0 to 3db going to the tape. I EQ my voice a bit on the high end going in, I think it has a lot of bass already.
Plus, type 2 tape I think has decent bass response.
This time I'm going digital to a master type 2 tape and will duplicate from the tape.
I will also make the digital podcast a recording of the tape playback. I just have to test to make sure the audio-data experiments still work.
