Yeah I'm still learning the ins and outs. I'm trying to go more analog-first but I'm still mainly going digital to analog.
I'm giving myself more time before the next issue so maybe I can get there.
What an epic weekend in Nashville.
The energy, excitement, and innovation of this community reminds me of the early days of the internet in the best way possible.
Bands of Bitcoin and the nostr:npub1yfg0d955c2jrj2080ew7pa4xrtj7x7s7umt28wh0zurwmxgpyj9shwv6vg and nostr:npub1h8gzew8am6cezuq7cpjgudldra40hgnruqrqlsrqnxnzs5wjtczqztps02 concerts were absolute highlights of the weekend.
Incredible to meet and hang with so many of the insanely talented OG musicians in this space - nostr:npub19r9qrxmckj2vyk5a5ttyt966s5qu06vmzyczuh97wj8wtyluktxqymeukr nostr:npub13qrrw2h4z52m7jh0spefrwtysl4psfkfv6j4j672se5hkhvtyw7qu0almy nostr:npub1a377f258tzafuzdgezwjw4aplg8ze3suyzm40t6j4czcjvwp5vls5d5r4w nostr:npub1jp9s6r7fpuz0q09w7t9q0j3lmvd97gqzqzgps88gu870gulh24xs9xal58 nostr:npub17yemy3hswcelmcdgjsfn4sns4wr4q5ptvj5h08qt4s7fy2qe3hdqsczs99 nostr:npub1l3y60kjywvrrln5ftse553h2ltg53sm3zy55grvlncd78x3k5uqsmw8dff, Martin, Andy, and many others - you all rock!
Perhaps what surprised and impressed me most about these musicians and builders was the lack of ego, creating a spirit of collaboration over competition.
This meeting of the minds might just change the trajectory of how we create and share music for years to come.
Leveraging technology to exchange value is a heck of a lot more fun and interesting than being exploited by centralized platforms in an algorithmic race to the bottom.
I started dipping my toes into Nostr and uploading tunes on Wavlake just a few short weeks ago, with little understanding and no expectations.
Now it’s clear that the paradigm is shifting rapidly, and incumbent platforms like Spotify could be rendered obsolete thanks to this motley crew of early adopters, artists, and builders.
Shout out to JL for inviting me up on stage for a spontaneous songwriting session. Jaw-dropping to see what you and your band came up with on the spot!
Jim and Julie, thank you for creating such an epic event, sharing my tunes on your podcast, and for inviting me to fill-in as guest MC for #bandsofbitcoin.
I was totally starstruck when the one-and-only podfather nostr:npub13ql75nq8rldygpkjke47y893akh5tglqtqzs6cspancaxktthsusvfqcg7 and nostr:npub1pvdw7mm7k20t9dn9gful8n5xua5yv8rmgd9wul88qq5dxj80lpxqd39r3u (accidentally) shared my cameo as guest MC from Bands of Bitcoin on the Podcasting 2.0 show!
Big props to Sam and Michael at Wavlake, Nick and Oscar at nostr:npub1v5ufyh4lkeslgxxcclg8f0hzazhaw7rsrhvfquxzm2fk64c72hps45n0v5, nostr:npub1a6c3jcdj23ptzcuflek8a04f4hc2cdkat95pd6n3r8jjrwyzrw0q43lfrr from Tunestr, Jim and Julie Costello from nostr:npub1t6njrhtc9q3f5wdrwfrhpypq3kes5mpdx4u4rw9w2pxjanuxcpkqveagv3, and everyone else who made this incredible weekend happen.
Thank you all for the warm welcome to the valueverse and for changing the game.
Let’s all make some music in Austin soon!

Still can't believe what I saw with JL making up that song on the spot. Hopefully the live stream captured that energy because even I was looking around the room to see if it was real 🤯
Thanks for this note, great recap and takeaways.
If you are a fan of inflicting psychology trauma and cassettes, this is the episode for you!
Just a nice pleasant story about how the US tapped in to deep cultural fear and anxiety to torment villagers. And then setup portable cassette players with speakers to play these recordings.
Kewl...
It has strong metal gear (the video game) vibes.
I really liked nostr:nprofile1qqsf37qcuu353dsyqaawqjdg8rr7vm7srchr76x9uqh3zfv2yuz07pqpg3mhxw309ahhsarjv3jhvctkxc685d35093rw7pkwf4xwdrww3a8z6ngv4jx6dtzx4ax5ut4d36kw6mwdpa8ydpkdeunyutzv9jzummwd9hkutcpz4mhxue69uhkummnw3ezummcw3ezuer9wchszythwden5te0dehhxarj9emkjmn99uyn6674 's ambient mix here. I've been listening to a lot of "experimental" or just odd ambient and spoken word stuff and this ending gave me those vibes. It's just the last bit though, the majority of this track has a different feel which, I dig the contrast.
The full version is of course on #wavlake: https://wavlake.com/album/654af441-4630-48ca-9f5b-6fcec0140d18
(I'm also experimenting with nostr.build so hopefully my clip works).
This was another super interesting #cassette podcast. Basically there were these tapes that were cut with a saw maybe a few centimeters into the tape. So they were sent to China in the 80s to be scrapped.
But instead, people found these tapes, and repaired them!! (By splicing the tape into a new shell) and then listening to them. It was like thousands of these tapes and it made a kind of underground culture which evaded Chinese censorship at the time. They were called Dakou (cut out) tapes.
I was looking at nostr.wine and other paid relays, they seem to be perhaps slowing getting there. I'm not sure it's better than running your own relay at this point though.
But say you had this special relay, but also wanted the public ones, it's not clear to me how to direct the note to the special one and not the public ones etc...
Perhaps amethyst can do it, it is the emacs of nostr clients.
So the nice thing about FM radios is that you can actually transmit on the FM radio band legally. Then you can broadcast your own music or whatever and listen through your house or a small area.
These low power FM transmitters were very popular during covid when churches would have everyone sit in the parking lots. They'd just tune in and all listen together.
Basically, FM radio isn't just passive receive. I've also done some small pirate radio, it's quite fun.
Not only is he reading, but he has a pen in his hand go make notes as well. He is just not reading for pleasure, but actively reading!
The first time ever hearing myself on vinyl = UNFILTERED JOY 🧡✨🫶🏻

Amazing! I saw a glimpse of this record being passed around and being signed. 😍
I was listening to the tracks before I went and then heard them live 🫠
"Upon seeing the design of Cryptosteel, I considered creating something similar at home. Although it may not be as cool as their device, it could offer almost the same in terms of robustness and durability."
No, yours is cooler because it's more punk. Punk > products.
I do mine to cassettes but we all need our own special plan for this world. 🙃
Oh wow, yeah this amazing! What software/website is this a screenshot of?
Thanks again. I'm on castapod, which I think makes a mastadon like instance for me? Honestly, idk what it does.
But if there is a nostrdon 🤣 bridge than perfect.
No, I definitely did not see the podfather replying to me 🫨
I've added the relay now, thanks so much for the help!
PSA for anyone interested in PC 2.0 that’s on Nostr. Most of the PC 2.0 people are on Mastodon but there is a bridge relay you can add that will connect them to you.
If they see your Nostr post on Mastodon and reply to you you won’t see it on Nostr unless you are connected to the Mostr relay.
Go to “relays” in your settings and add this relay. Any questions just hit me up.

Oh sweet. Do you have to add a hashtag or so to send it over to the fediverse or does it send everything over?
This sounds like some kind of reverse marketing psyop 🤣
Great to see that the seed signer booth had lots of traffic! Great location with the open source stage there.
"Home is where the tapes are." So I'm back today, decided to pop this tape in inspired by this note below.
#cassette

I have a #v4v question. When people are making shows like boostgram ball and other music podcasts, are they getting permission from the artists first? Or are they just adding splits appropriately?
At Nashville, in some discussions, the impression I got is that it's the later. Like, if the music is there v4v, go ahead make a music podcast just add them.
Do I have the correct takeaway? I'm new to this (we might all be 🤣). And I'm curious what the norm is (is there one?).
Surpringsly, some pioneering v4v creators, devs, and artists are following me I think, what do y'all think?
They probably still 🤘 voices might sound different tho
I have this on tape! It was re released by tape head city!
