A low-fi audiozine that puts the punk back in cypherpunk.

I'm reading about cassettes and 2 pages in, there's this:

When a new technology arrives, it possesses a "utopian dimension", in the words of one philosopher, which it loses over time as it comes to serve a mere commodity. However, "it is precisely at the moment of obsolescence of that technology that it once again releases this dimension, like the last gleam of a dying star." 😍

Yeah right on. You inspired me to look into audio streaming. There's still the OG icecast for pure internet radio stations.

But, most everyone is switching to HLS streaming with video. It could do audio only, but I think perhaps the interest isn't there.

So the hack is basically a static video 😀

Yeah, I doubt you need an asic. Just get a FPGA and put the signature IP on there. It will save you 5 years and a few million.

Oh sweet. Yeah, you know, I'm not going to replace my electric. I lost my way. I have this nice Japanese burr grinder and then I got lazy.

💪☕️💪

I've gone back to hand grinding my coffee. I just feel in today's modern world, we need the proof of work for our daily rituals.

In other news, my electric grinder broke.

BrEaKing NeWS! The stylophone theremin release is announced!

😱

For what signature? Secp256k1? Why do you want it? I'm curious.

My guess is for modern hardware a cpu is good enough. There is overhead to send it to the hardware. Plus, typically the preimage is hashed first so do you want the hash in the asic too?

Yeah right on. I still think you don't have to turn everything else off unless you are doing backups or so.

Also, it's the video that's the hog. If you turn the frame rate et. Al down and perhaps just show the spinning LP, you'll be pushing less data.

For example, take a look at some of the radio streams. They sometimes just have a static image or QR code. So their frame rate is like 1 because the image never changes and then they are just pushing audio.

But yeah, it's all experimentation.

New life accomplishment. I recorded a live number station 🫨

I'm working on the next issue and I'm doing a number stations article and I got the recording live, to cassette!

I've heard recordings before but never listened live.

Stupid discord though, it popped up and got on the recording 😞

That's the RSS field for the podcasting 2.0 spec. How / where is the unique lnurl then?

I think they shoot .22, or maybe air pellets? You don't need hearing protection for that caliber.

But otherwise yes, this is badass. The skill of these shooters are amazing.
