A low-fi audiozine that puts the punk back in cypherpunk.

I do wish podcasts would stick to a CDs length.

It is nice to hear unstructured conversations but yeah.

Ok, I had forgotten about this. You made me find my copy that I've saved from over 20 years ago when I was getting into this stuff.

It is filled with highlights, notes and my own handwriting. I now remember the appeal.

I'll give it a proper listen later this weekend, but yeah, we need to go back to our roots. Excellent choice.

Nostr needs more zines. One could argue nostr is a zine and I can see that, but idk. I think even a digital zine needs to be finite with a beginning and end.

So in that case, nostr doesn't meet the definition.

Oh sweet! I'm still working on the main article. And I might try to record it to tape first this time. So that might take me a bit longer.

Fixing mistakes in a digital voice over is sooooo easy. I'm a bit nervous if I will be able to get through it.

I'll have to see how it sounds.

Yeah I'm really at a loss for words for how cool this is. Each issue has more and more contributors from this community.

I appreciate the trust and belief in this crazy project.

There's just something to this medium that's magnetic -- it keeps pulling me in.

And if the nostr relays go down, these tapes will still exist 😀

The door is always open for submissions. It's 20minutes per side, two sides. If it goes on the tape, I'll figure out a way to get you a copy.

Wow, it's so cool to see this show up in my timeline. I'm curious to hear how you think your track sounds on the tape.

Yeah I gotta update the firmware on mine. I love it!

Pretty powerful book. 2011. Pretty sure he is a Marxist but he believes people should just be upfront with their bias instead of trying to be objective. Which I can respect.

In any case, if hiphop is your thing, I'd check it out.

On youtube you only get the product for free if its a "fair and honest review." If you want to do a bad review of a product you have to buy it with your own money.

It is! Music, zine articles, poetry, and found sounds on neon orange translucent cassettes.

Can you sell other CDs besides groove salad?

I've been taping (yes, taping) some somafm live but if you did an official cd I'd snag it. Perhaps the licensing prevents it?

I'm sipping from my somafm mug now, love yall!

Not bad. But I just make my own now. The cans got too much plus I really like high levels of CO2.

I'm helping the environment by highly carbonation my drinks.

I do remeber the submarine scene, and as being a submarine guy once, it wasn't entirely horrible.

Chatting with nostr:npub1f49twdlzlw667r74jz6t06xxlemd8gp2j7g77l76easpl8jsltvqvlzpez reminded me of a project that some students in a communications club I was part of during college.

They created a packet tracker (I assume this wasn't novel although they received grant money from some military contractors, which is normal for my school). They were able to track anything that emitted 802.11 packets of any kind, which included device specific information down to 1 meter, over about 1 mile with a single antenna, a cheap SDR and GNU radio. As long as most smart phones are on, they emit traceable 802.11 packets. Something to consider. You just need a large enough antenna network to change that area. I wouldn't be surprised if Ring doorbells and Google homes already do this.

Sneakers are hip these days. I say we bring back sneakernet!
