GM nostr!

May your weekend be full of rest and fun with friends & family!

Bro! I've been feeling this for a few months now.

I'm broke... But I've also got 3 years of salary saved in Bitcoin... But I'm totally broke. It's a weird fucking feeling

My monthly buy hit at almost the bottom. $81,300. Was glorious! I'll never hit this high again šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£

I had a trip and spent 12 hours in NYC. I'll never go back. Not my thing. My brother-in-law was stoked the entire time. Big cities are no bueno

My monthly recurring buy knocked it out of the park this month. Snagged at $81,300 with no fees. šŸ˜šŸ„°šŸ˜šŸ„°

My wife worked for a bank. She said it's ridiculous how long it takes for a check to truly clear. The bank fronts you the money like it cleared but it really takes weeks to a month to actually complete. It's why they can come back later and rip it from your account.

On-chain is less stressful.

You know, I was talking to the only other fellow Bitcoin maxi I've met in the wild at church the other week...

While there's something to be said about getting knocked down and getting back up, the amount of poor decisions at swan really add up.

I don't know if they ACTUALLY took money from Ripple... But the prime trust debacle, then fortress, then they literally deployed the most hashrate in the least amount of time ever but the business was "stolen" from them... There's too many coincidences when you can go with strike or river that have never had these problems if you're going to buy KYC corn.

Switching between the two is a little complicated because of the way this is temporarily set up to allow both to exist and share the same blockchain. Because they do share it, definitely don't uninstall anything. The trick is to get access to downgrade and reinstall options, each of which might be relevant depending on what versions and upgrades are available.

Basically...

Reinstall method

In the StartOS System tab, click the ā€œManageā€ heading 5+ times to enable developer mode.

Visit the Marketplace, and the version you want to install. Click ā€œReinstallā€ on the service, or

If you get a notification claiming the install failed. Don’t worry, it succeeded. You just need to open the config and click ā€œSaveā€.

Downgrade method (should not be needed unless the versions are out of sync)

In the StartOS System tab, click the ā€œManageā€ heading 5+ times to enable developer mode. (Do this anyway if you'd a switcher, might be useful later)

Visit the Marketplace, and the version you want to install. Scroll down to Versions and select at least one version down.

Install that.

There'd be no need to resync, and all dependent services should be happy.

In StartOS 0.3.6 this will all be unnecessary, and the process of switching between Bitcoin implementations will be streamlined.

Interesting. I'm hopeful for the new version. It's supposed to widen the PCs that startOS can be installed on too. But last I heard there was no ETA

I was trying to assemble a start9 server and was on their telegram chat. One of the scammers tried to call me and ask me to explain the problem.

I told him if he's in the chat he should know EXACTLY what my problem is if he wasn't scamming.

He hung up on me šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£

Reminds me of:

The sophist takes a simple concept and makes it complicated.

The wise takes a complicated concept and makes it simple.

Every time I've thought about buying MSTR I always end up just buying #Bitcoin instead.

If I had a 401K that I could only buy equities I'd yeet it into MSTR but with free cash...I just can't bring myself to buy anything but the glorious orange coin.

GM! Beautiful day to get together with the community.

Replying to nobody

A guy at work who I know understands sound money to the extent that he has acquired some metals, and has shown an interest in learning more about Bitcoin sent me an invite code today because he’s all excited about Pi coin mining on his phone. šŸ¤¦šŸ½ā€ā™‚ļø

He had his whole identity stolen less than a year ago. Because I actually care about the guy, here’s what I replied:

ā€œI can’t get into this because it’s not open source, its not on a public ledger, it’s not decentralized, it’s not based on a proof of work mining model and I can’t find any verifiable info about the issuance schedule or whether a bunch of it was pre-mined by the developers prior to launch. The charts don’t even have a supply cap or circulating supply number available.

Bitcoin has a 16 year head start on any of these new crypto projects, is secured by a proof of work network with 99.9% uptime, has serious institutional, corporate and nation state adoption, and is secured on an open ledger with an issuance schedule and supply cap verifiable by anyone with a computer.

Mining some Pi on your phone might be harmless but I’d think twice about parting with any real money purchasing it on an exchange now that it has gone live.

It looks like thousands of other pump and dump rug pulls waiting to happen, unless they open up the ledger and the source code to scrutiny.

You can’t convert Pi to cash without supplying a bunch of KYC info to the devs. It’s going to be a huge honeypot of customers’ KYC, device and contact info for hackers. Careful who you give your info to. ā€œ

To which he replied ā€œK thanks.ā€

It's so difficult... We've got so much knowledge for people to basically blow it all off. Can't stop people from experiencing consequences unfortunately.

Too few people understand doing things for the principle.

Sure if Odell's goal is to get as many followers/listeners as possible, X is the better vehicle currently.

But I know he's made it clear on numerous occasions that the point was the identity verification. People should be able to live free. Odell made the choice. And I respect that.
