I’ve been grateful for the time to stack these last many months.

Yeah, but I’m a radiologist. We know almost everything in theory but only actually do a few specific things in practice…ymmv

That’s the only one I’ve used. On Android.

Gotenna is dead though. There was a guy named Richard Meyers who had some kick ass ideas for a mesh network incentivized by bitcoin payments…not sure what happened to him…

Too late

Stay safe man. Keep your sats close to your chest. Vegas has a way of making anyone poor.

US government wants to tax your unrealized gains. They literally argue before the Supreme Court that if your property goes up in value, you owe a tax whether you sell it or not. One of the lefty judges asks questions strongly suggesting she agrees with federal government position.

You may not like Trump, but if you have bitcoin you’ll be happy he appointed ⅓ of the current Supreme Court.

Amen. I’m at the young end of gen x. Nobody complains about us.

But I’m a little shocked by the new generation of lazy doctors who finished training during the pandemic. Just killed their testicles; no capacity for hard work.

Stay sober. It’s a little weird in Vegas.

With the recent price run up, @marie and the #footstr crowd are gonna look like geniuses 😂

20 hours if you have never pointed a dish before. 2 if you have.

If you don’t have a dish, mounting on a wall, ground pole, or ground mount is preferable to risking your life on a roof and easier for adjusting. Running cables into your home through the attic or basement is actually really easy.

A bigger dish is easier to point. It helps a lot to see where in the sky your targeted satellite lives. Dishpointer on iOS is what I used. Having realtime feedback from your pc while you adjust dish pointing helps a ton (there’s a tool in Blockstream satellite software for this).

I’ve sent a transaction over it for testing. I have a gotenna mounted on my roof with some modifications to give it 20 mi+ range. But gotenna blows. Proprietary platform.

I really should. Im taking a little more time off this year, so I should get my hands on license. Maybe I can reach @NVK in Toronto from here in Arizona.

Also, that dish will work for eutelsat-113 in a large part of the US but might be a stretch for reaching Galaxy-18 satellite.

I have a link somewhere to estimate requires dish diameter.

Geostationary orbit of the satellites would require a fairly fancy dish mount to keep lock on same point in sky. That’s out of my league but not unusual for boat satellite folks.

I forgot to include the link: http://blockstream.space

Can be done cheaply with a small usb device called a software defined radio and a satellite dish you might already have or can find dirt cheap.

Anyone interested in learning more about #blockstream satellite?

The free service allows you to download all bitcoin data without internet & without your isp knowing you run a bitcoin node. You are on your own for transmitting your 250 byte transaction though. Consider postcards or using an SMS bitcoin relay service.

Minor trust issue with getting all your bitcoin data from a single source, so a sanity check is required before considering a payment to you as finalized (besides waiting 6 or so confirmations).
