I like what the folk at lightsats.com have done. You can create a tip/gift with the onboarding experience and walk them through it in 2 minutes. I find it easier to convince them of BTC utility if they see they can easily use the BTC for purchases or trade. The only issue I have with their site is the use of the term "tip" since that has tax implications. Perhaps they should change it to "gift". I then continue the new user's journey with on-chain non-custodial wallets once they start to think of saving in BTC as well.

I know this won't be a popular belief on NOSTR, that's full of BTC MAXIS, but I use my BTC for savings, purchases, and gifting. As money, as it was meant to be. Not to just accumulate. and I don't poo poo on alts either. In fact I like a lot of the features litecoin and monero provide. It's a free market and people can spend their funds/labor as they see fit. Granted a lot of shit exists but let the buyer beware. And all of us started with shitcoins called FIAT so throw no stones. You won't win people over that way.

I just guide the new user to bitcoin first and espouse the advantages it has over all the rest.

I helped many of my co-workers in latam get started in bitcoin while they were in Venezuela and Argentina. It's how they were able to survive and eventually get out without being completely broke. However this is nothing new. Bitcoin just happens to be a new method to use. In the past they would take earnings and immediately convert it to physical assets for barter. Or coupons in underground markets that could be traded for goods at vendor tables.

I may be nuts but I diversify a lot. Something like 20% of each bitcoin, stocks (diversify those), gold&silver both physical and crypto based asset form, real-estate, and bonds/fiat.

I don't necessarily hodl. I use bitcoin as money whenever I can. Directly if I can, via gift cards when I can't, or through coinbase visa when no other option exists. Depending on what I'm making a profit that becomes the form I use for payments. So if my previous metals (PMs) is up I use that. I trade from PMs to bitcoin and BTC to PMs whenever It brings a profit. Same with other assets. If I can avoid landing to fiat I do. But so far I've only been able to avoid that with my PMs.

My issue with Amethyst and other Android app wallets is they default to only opening the wallet link when you try to zap a post. I keep everything related to money in a separate container on android and thus can't open a wallet from where my social media apps are kept. I wish it would give a copy LN url option. On desktop clients it pops up the qr code so I do zaps from there.
