Binary encoding: we keep compatibility with nostr events, just optimize JSON field names away
Binary events: breaking change in signing scheme that also means conversion to JSON is optional, tag values and event contents can now be binary
Damnit, I thought nostr:npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku found a way to do it with 12
Adding complexity means you use the emojis to derive a seed or convert the seed into binary then emojis
That is about as secure as a 12 word seed.
Also, with a scheme like this it is not possible to do words and emojis at the same time unless you add complexity or use 22 emojis
Also DM for testing if interested.
Partitioning is probably the best idea.
I’m thinking we need a binary version of Nostr events (not binary encoded events), for cases where it’s not complicated enough to involve a system like Blossom, but also would benefit from binary encoding like encrypted events.
Have been working on a secure (not some shitty ESP32) signing device over the last few months.
Expecting it to be ready for testing in Q1 2025. DM for more information. nostr:note12ms9x0p79krje7gv76axfvcfrrt7fs9xyyzk0sw069gp80f8wgrs29w40j
nostr.land does not :)
Hey devs, would love to do a quick poll.
I've got a situation where I need to send a data object via Nostr events that, in a minority of cases, is too big to fit in a single nostr event (64kb limit).
I'm thinking of chunking the object across multiple events and then reconstituting it on the other side. nostr:npub1arkn0xxxll4llgy9qxkrncn3vc4l69s0dz8ef3zadykcwe7ax3dqrrh43w and I were doing this when we were experimenting with embedded games last year and it worked surprisingly well.
That said, it's very non-standard, so I'd love to hear some opinions.

What’s the use case?
eithet this has existed for a while and I implemented it and completely forgot, or it’s new
wtf is a uppercase P tag?

Being a bitcoiner does not make you automatically not an idiot. 🙃
Yes, in this case they are forced to pay because they do not want to be inconvenienced or want higher quality.
There is a mandatory two way exchange of value, unlike in V4V where the payment can never happen.
Yeah. That is often rare though and there’s some other benefit to the donators. They don’t believe your cause just because.
