Just signed up for One Medical. Ran into like 3 massive bugs and a page locking during form submissions, which makes it the most reliable medical app I've ever used.
Booked an appointment for next week. Hopefully this is the start of finally getting my shoulder fixed.

Absolutely insane @NotionHQ ask: An equivalent of Chrome Profiles
I have 3 profiles. I use them all ENTIRELY differently. Each being it's own "app" would make life much easier.

The argument “if it’s so much better it would’ve caught on by now“ is an excuse for not trying something. There are many demonstrably better ways of doing things that have not “caught on” because they disturbed the status quo.

I see a lot of negative takes on Mob/Ensemble programming by people who have never done it or even watched it done. Here are a couple time-lapse videos (from Hunter Industries, where the technique was created) showing mobbing in action. Puts some of the mythology to rest to actually see it. Note, for example, how everybody is working, not just the person typing. Also note how people come and go throughout the day, but the work goes on. If you want more info, Chris Lucien's meta reference [https://is.gd/JQ8zE6] has plenty.

I am sick to death of hearing somebody trot out "True Scotsman" when I say "done right." Believe me, there are lots of ways to approach techniques like Mob/Ensemble programming (or almost anything else in the Agile Toolbox) that render the technique ineffective or worthless. It is not "True Scotsman" to point out that when you pervert a way of working to the point where it's unrecognizable that your perversion won't work.

i’m not sure you’re getting my point. When people are working collaboratively in an ensemble, they talk to each other as they work. That conversation is part of the way that they work. In that context, the whole notion of an interruption simply doesn’t come up. That is, the notion of an interruption is entirely grounded in the idea of one person working alone, which I don’t think is a particularly effective way to work no matter how “good” or “focused” that isolated individual is.

Re. mob/ensemble programming: I suppose it’s too much to ask that people not hate what they haven’t experienced, so have no idea what they’re hating. None of the negative comments that I read are posted by people who have any experience working in an effective mob. Doesn’t seem to stop them from having strong opinions.

I’d suggest reading Don Reinertsen‘s “Principles of Product Development Flow.“ Depending on the amount of variation in the work, you may need as much as 50% slack time to have a smooth development flow. You don’t have to be idle during that slack time, of course. You could spend it learning, reading, taking classes, giving classes, Etc. Even playing cards, though, is a better use of your time than artificial busyness. Firefighters have as much as 99% slack time in their schedule. Last thing you want to hear when your house catches fire is that all the firefighters are busy, so won’t be able to get to you for a few hours.
