If you ever struggle with focus (and if you don't, I envy you!) the always fascinating Elizabeth Filips has some excellent techniques to share: https://yewtu.be/watch?v=brInNApdbL4
I like Chris Voss's mirror/label technique here- he's mostly concerned with figuring out people's positions in a negotiation context, but it's a generally good way to encourage people to keep going and express themselves
Yamana Sozen, the Red Monk. In 1466, with a succession struggle brewing within the shogunate, Yamana gathered his troops and marched to Kyoto: nominally to support the shogun's brother's claim to the throne, but fundamentally as part of an ongoing feud with his son in law, Hosokawa. After more than a year of tense, sometimes violent brinksmanship, with brawls in the streets and wood-and-paper Japanese buildings put to the torch, the conflict would finally erupt into the Onin War.
A decade of brutal urban conflict later would see Yamana and Hosokawa both dead, the Japanese Imperial capital laid in ruins, and the power of the shogunate over the provincial lords was broken. The event marked the start of the Sengokujidai, Japan's Warring States Period.https://nostrcheck.me/media/public/nostrcheck.me_7990105376974605171691015799.webp
Coding in the moonlight, beer in hand. Good evening. https://yewtu.be/watch?v=z4DQKo0xoB8
Having a plausible mechanism is incredibly hype. Even if LK-99 doesn't turn out to be super useful itself, the possibility space just opened up
read Varian and Shapiro!
The superconductor news is staying interesting for longer than I initially expected. It seems like whatever this material is, it's got some fascinating properties...
Logseq is the closest thing, I think? https://github.com/logseq/logseq
I've done this for formatting Markdown for an Anki import tool before. If the content isn't too sensitive, it's a great first-pass general text manipulation tool (rather than having to think about how to do it with sed/grep/awk).
Of course, if those are the right tools, GPT's also pretty good at running up a first draft of the script...
Okay, interesting. I'm actually running OpenBoard for my keyboard at the moment, as opposed to the stock GrapheneOS one, but it may be a related issue. I'll try Florisboad at some stage. Thanks1
Uh, general #nostr question- is there a good solution yet for mass-blocking shitcoiner bots? It's not that big a deal, but there's a minor infestation almaot every time I post.
I'm a big fan of the folks at Integrated Skills Group, as they highlight some stuff that's often overlooked in the broader prepper community. One thing is in-field weather prediction, and broad weather awareness skills. Knowing a little bit about clouds and weather patterns can really let you understand a bit about the vast systems of temperature and pressure flow that surround you, which is majestic, fascinating. And occasionally, very useful.

And this is why we #unschool #worldschool and focus on #selfledlearning. π―
Two of my teens (14 & 16) have flown solo internationally this year. One to Japan and the other to Spain. π€©
I am absolutely certain there is no way either of my children would have the courage to fly multiple flights internationally without the life that they have experienced. π«Ά
Also, one BIG myth we need to debunk, is that it's expensive to travel. There are many ways to #travel as a #family that make this lifestyle far less expensive than a regular suburban life β¨π¦
Next time I talk with nostr:npub1d7mf2y5nxn35h7h26jq5x5dak6zljgg39n5hcrns06tuahhqlxus2vu9ea we totally need to cover this one. π¦βοΈππ nostr:note152ywv0k5wt9u2e6m3katzva6z8mgc7cfxt4ple0y6qh4sl78fspqlerz2q
Agency is a hard thing to teach, but it sounds like you're doing an awesome job!
We haven't peaked yet! Modern minimalist architecture is an artifact of labor costs and energy/material efficiency, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. As we accelerate into reduced material scarcity, we'll have an expansion of creativity and neobaroque intricacies and detail.
I was homeschooled, and I think it did a reasonably good job of preparing me for a chaotic world. Generalist skills and learning how to learn seem like they're only going to get more important.
Will check that out! Had it for a little while now, might just be some kind of edge case. Posting more from plebstr now, it's good to have both
Time for the bancor #mandibles
More seriously, though, I'm skeptical- none of them except maybe China have shown the organization necessary to pull this off, and China has macro troubles of its own
v0.70.8-FDROID, on GrapheneOS- yeah, it's a bit weird, haven't seen much else about it
