Good evening! ✨️

It is awesome and interesting to travel South America.

But it is a different experience if you visit multiple countries in one go. This way you will experience the slight differences that you wouldn't if you visit each in a separate year.

Of course, it can be also too much to travel a long time. You might feel, yeah, I saw many pre-columbian ruins, I will skip this. But if you travel each country in a separate year, you are might not full with pre-columbian ruins, and check that.

Weird is just something rare, until it becomes the new normal.

That's good! We are backpacking for 6 month, so cannot afford hiring guides everywhere. So we try to do many things on our own.

Had no problem so far, just annoying to see that they lie to get hired. It makes the overall experience a little bit worse.

Our experience is, that local people in Peru lie to make you hire them. Taxi drivers, tour guides, etc. We caught them on multiple occasions. We also helped other couples not to get mislead.

In Colombia, we did not see this. So maybe they lie better. 😂

It depends. Because, if you rent a server, you can easily do backups, probably even raid, and then a hard disk failure has a lower chance to cause you problems, and anyway you don't put these under the x-ray or so.

I would say, mega is a comfortable option, easy to setup, but you have to trust them.

You have multiple options:

1. Rent a server

2. Buy a homeserver

3. Pay a service (they could sell your data, so be careful)

All have different advantages and disadvantages you shall check for yourself which fits you better.

Maybe you can check mega.nz as a paid service. I think they have some privacy guarantees, but not sure.

We saw you have been in Colombia as well. Did you feel the different handling in Peru compared to Colombia?

Somehow we felt better handled by locals in Colombia.

Also a random tip, you shall visit the Tayrona National Park in Colombia. It is amazing!

If you can, travel for at least 6 months.

Read "if you can", as "make it possible".

If you travel for 6 month, you will change. We are only travelling since 1.5 months, but it is already mind changing.

Does a good review app exist out there?

This is not the first time, when it comes up that, reviews are unusuable on platforms like google maps.

We have a theory, that:

"if you do a long enough travel, your mindset will shift."

You might not be able to go back to your original life. You might seek change!

GM, GA, GE to everyone! 💜
