chronic early adopter of decentralized tech :)

honestly this would be an easy way to harm bitcoin don’t you think? post illegal content on bitcoin in the form of magnet links? i guess they could already do that with ordinals too but yeah

Twitter does a great job at keeping the context in this way. Media is indented under the user avatar. But when you tap into it, the media is centered and has less indentation

Users need context for where they are in the experience.

Edge-to-edge media sets the context for where the user is and should thus be reserved for top-level content.

The top-level content on the main timeline is the app logo, timeline selectors etc.

Only when I tap in to a post should the post media be edge-to-edge. Because that is now the new context.

“web-of-trust is the best baseline for eliminating spam”

Thank goodness. So glad you said that.

“but it does need a complement in order to introduce newcomers to the network”

What about trusted / recommended accounts? Right now, these are hard coded in apps, but they could theoretically come from relays as well.

Is trust a relay problem more than an app problem? probably…

maybe a hot take but i don’t like edge to edge images. i don’t like being immersed that way because i lose context of where i am and what i’m looking at.

i like the backdrop behind images because they feel “in place” with where i am and what i’m doing in the app

it’s not cheap when you open and close the channel for one small payment though.

and wallets that try to abstract away channels will do this “for” you automatically.

so the benefit becomes what? slightly better privacy i suppose

The problem is that apps like Phoenix want to hide the liquidity management and end up hiding the channel opening and closing all together. What’s the point of using Lightning at all then?

hard disagree to your hard disagree.

Notice that there is no inbound liquidity in a bar tab.

but they shouldn’t abstract away the channel management. Normal people understand the concept of a bar tab, for example. open a tab. spend. close out.

it annoys the hell out of me when apps try to hide that aspect

I guess Cash App is not an “exchange” in the sense that others are? Maybe that is how it can avoid being targeted?

no that didn’t work. shows @#[0]

Those tags just show as names for me on Damus. not clickable. they must not have posted as npubs on the backend

hey #[0] what is all this buzz about regulation crackdowns at exchanges? anything happening at cash app? will we no longer be allowed to withdraw bitcoin from cash app?
