chronic early adopter of decentralized tech :)

This explains a lot. What is the Nostric solution?

Gossip model? a DHT? nostr:note1wf7a7nzmmsqnzmx723fks7fjj52hpktqh8h0h09ad4wv9c2sev6skpg345

I'm really surprised by the quality of nostr:npub19mduaf5569jx9xz555jcx3v06mvktvtpu0zgk47n4lcpjsz43zzqhj6vzk, they explained NoterNet.work better than I can. I also know they did their research because they mentioned all the latest updates in detail. Respect 🫡

Another big benefit of the “Nostr OS” would be pinned versions of apps. Let users choose when they want to manually update an app to a new version

ActivityPub allows deletes, private posts, post authentication, etc.

Many great things. The creators just intentionally cripple the technology with their political obsessions.

It should be a technology run by small scale governments. Towns, municipalities.

Ironically, I like ActivityPub more than Nostr. It just doesn’t take itself seriously. that is the issue

Nice nostr web client

Looks good! But at least on mobile, I’m not sure what it is. On the main page, it’s just regular posts like Nostur. But it seems like communities is the main thing. So why isn’t that featured?

In GunDB, this was a non-issue. For every new app, a user would just have a new node in their graph for all of the app data.

But in nostr, there is no concept of user data. Just a flat hierarchy of events associated with pubkeys. nostr:note1hjf8rv7nus5085xq5aafpqwus8epaapuf5qlkjvmzq94pawn5m0sars7dg

Thinking about niche apps that use Nostr. Think movie reviews for example.

What is the best way to do it without suggesting that users make new nostr accounts?

1. Create a new event kind for the app. The user is still polluting their other app feeds with these niche app events. That is ok for a few events, but imagine they are power users on these other niche apps.

2. Somehow specify that in the app, they will only post to specific relays that are only for this app data. Well, what is the point of having one universal account if nobody knows what apps you’re using or where you’re posting? You’re sequestered on this totally isolated relay for this app that no one will know about. And you also then need every niche app developer to be a sys admin running their own relay as well! Increasing the friction for app developers

I will try to configure that with a “_” in the wellknown file as well

Oh I had mute and reverse opposite from you haha. As long as it’s explained somehow, it will be fine though.

One of them allows notifications at least while the other doesn’t.

Ignore = don’t show them in the feed, but notify me if they tag me or reply to me etc. basically “i want to see less of this person”

Mute = any events at all from this person should be filtered out.

Block = don’t allow this person to see my posts. not possible on Nostr today, BUT when we have private posts, this is an easy solve

Wikipedia on nostr looks cool nostr:note1l5g7lyc52kug3a0ua6gqextknkkjchjjqn3yp2h2twcsr8gpvgwqv7a9lh
