The Era of Exploration - Yiding Jiang
https://yidingjiang.github.io/blog/post/exploration

Large language models are the unintended byproduct of about three decades worth of freely accessible human text online. Ilya Sutskever compared this reservoir of information to fossil fuel, abundant but ultimately finite. Some studies suggest that, at current token‑consumption rates, frontier labs could exhaust the highest‑quality English web text well before the decade ends. Even if those projections prove overly pessimistic, one fact is clear: today’s models consume data far faster than humans can produce it.
C The Signs: Rewrite the future of cancer with AI.
https://www.dixonbaxi.com/case-study/c-the-signs

C the Signs is more than AI. It is a movement to make early cancer detection a right, not a privilege. While cancer doesn’t discriminate, access to diagnosis still does. C the Signs believes everyone deserves the same chance to survive. By working with patients, clinicians, and changemakers, they are rewriting the future of cancer care with real impact for people.

# Seeing cancer differently.
We began by defining a strategy rooted in C the Signs’ founding purpose. Through in-depth interviews with clinicians, patients, founders, and the internal team, we uncovered the insight that shaped the project: everyone deserves a better outcome. C the Signs is changing the story of cancer, detecting it earlier, diagnosing it faster, and connecting people to equitable care.

The Era of Experience & The Age of Design
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FLOL2f4iHKA
In his first large-scale public presentation after receiving the Turing Award, Dr. Richard S. Sutton presents, "The Era of Experience & The Age of Design," recorded live at Upper Bound.
In this presentation, Dr. Sutton lays the groundwork and shares a few key insights from his latest paper with David Silver (Alpha Go), "Welcome to the Era of Experience", where he explores a pivotal shift in Artificial Intelligence: moving beyond learning solely from human data to an "era of experience," where AI systems learn autonomously through their own interactions and observations.
Upper Bound 2025 is Amii's annual artificial intelligence conference, held in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, bringing together researchers, industry, and policymakers. The conference focuses on accelerating AI excellence and innovation for good, emphasizing AI for critical infrastructure, health, industrial operations, responsible AI, and AI literacy.
Axon’s Draft One is Designed to Defy Transparency
https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2025/07/axons-draft-one-designed-defy-transparency

Axon Enterprise’s Draft One — a generative artificial intelligence product that writes police reports based on audio from officers’ body-worn cameras — seems deliberately designed to avoid audits that could provide any accountability to the public, an EFF investigation has found.
Our review of public records from police agencies already using the technology — including police reports, emails, procurement documents, department policies, software settings, and more — as well as Axon’s own user manuals and marketing materials revealed that it’s often impossible to tell which parts of a police report were generated by AI and which parts were written by an officer.
You can read our full report, which details what we found in those documents, how we filed those public records requests, and how you can file your own, [here](https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2025/07/effs-guide-getting-records-about-axons-ai-generated-police-reports).

The Punctuation Guide
https://www.thepunctuationguide.com

As everyone knows, rules are made to be broken. Though it is a tired cliché that you must know the rules before you can break them, it is nevertheless true. This guide will show you the rules, but it is up to you to decide what to do with them.
A simple online handbook to help you understand how to properly use some punctuation in American English, American punctuation. British punctuation is slightly different, as explained [here](https://www.thepunctuationguide.com/british-versus-american-style.html). It becomes super useful for content writers and well as for anyone wanting to geek around and learn more about micro-typography.

Designing for the Eye – Optical Corrections in Architecture and Typography
https://www.nubero.ch/blog/015

People like Paul Renner, who design and draw typefaces, have always known about the intricacies of human perception and how to work in service of it. To illustrate all of this, let’s look at Renner’s 1927 typeface Futura. Futura is what is known as a geometric sans-serif – a typeface that looks as if it was drawn with a ruler and compass. It is made out of straight lines, sharp corners, and seemingly perfect circles and semi-circles.
You might think it far-fetched to draw a connection between typography and architecture, but the two fields are actually more similar than you might have expected. The typesetter or typographer has to plan a layout and a structure in which elements like paragraphs, pictures, and headings fall into place. Similar to the different parts of a building, these elements depend on one another to work both aesthetically and technically. And just as a building’s foundation defines the constraints for what can be built above it, the choice of typeface – and how it is used at its smallest size – usually defines the layout grid, and thus how the rest of a book will be typeset.
