What do you want to design? Ask Phind
# Create and edit anything from social posts, ads, prints, and even website UIs.

An image editor and design tool that uses 4o and custom models to allow users to generate and edit designs for anything from logos and advertisements to creative website and app designs.
4o is great at producing a first version of an image, but is not capable of editing it without messing up other parts of it. Phind fix this by running Flux Kontext alongside 4o image gen in the chat, as well as by introducing a precision editor powered by custom models where a user indicates an area to modify and guarantee that only that area will be modified.
A precision editor is state-of-the-art on image editing in our tests and allows inserting new additional images into the existing image. The latter allows users to insert a logo, product, or face into an image without messing up other parts of the image, and even fix logos and faces that were messed up by 4o. Text editing with the precision edit model is still a work in progress, and we will fix it with the next iteration of that model. We recommend using the chat for editing text for now.

# Know How - Jony Ive’s Philosophy of Design

A black and white drawing of Jony Ive reading Kant.
Over the years, the designer behind the colorful iMacs, the iPhone, and the Apple Watch has come to sound more and more like a reincarnation of Aristotle. At Apple his discourse on form, essence and matter read as high-concept marketing. But bit by bit, step by step, it started to feel almost like the opposite.
His 2021 CCA Commencement Address felt like a genuine meditation on design.[^1]1 Last week, at a PR-event for an Multibillion e-commerce platform, no less, he gave what amounted to a masterclass in design philosophy. In the span of an hour, Sir Jony Ive echoed Plato, Aristotle, and Wittgenstein, with clarity, grace and humility.[^2]
So you start to wonder: is old school philosophy, “love for wisdom”, the secret sauce of his new company, LoveFrom? Or does philosophy find us when we’re really, really serious about what we do? Or did he just get better at high-concept marketing?

Liquid Glass - Design or Kitsch?
https://ia.net/topics/liquid-glass

Apple has unveiled a bold new design language for all its operating systems. It’s still too early to say how good or bad it is, but we can outline the challenges.
As expected, Apple’s announcement triggered the usual flood of sarcasm and glee online. Of course, it’s not all bad. Some of the world’s best designers worked on this… and designers, being human, make mistakes.
The backlash after Apple launches something new has become tradition. It’s as loud as it is predictable, and the insight you get from first reactions on Social Media is as meaningful as any carnival music.
The Politics of Pilot Teams
https://www.svpg.com/the-politics-of-pilot-teams/

First and foremost, the purpose of a pilot team is to prove to your product organization, your leaders, and, in some cases, your investors, that the product model can deliver the business results you need.
But we need to do this quickly. We can’t wait years for an entire organization to transform.
You can consider a pilot team as the MVP for a full transformation. It’s just enough to address the risks, and much faster than the whole eventual effort.
A pilot team lets the company learn quickly (it’s usually a quarter or two), inexpensively (it’s just one or two teams), and safely (without putting the bulk of the company’s revenue at risk), just what it means to move to empowered product teams operating in the product model.
But there are several important secondary purposes as well.
Case study: Peckham Carboot rebrand
https://www.joepowderham.com/peckham-carboot/
# A visual identity inspired by the charm of nostalgic hand-painted market signage.

Since 2019, every other Sunday, Peckham Carboot has been the go-to spot in South East London for vintage finds, hidden gems, and a good natter—’lovely jubbly!’ Over six years, it’s built a thriving community of sellers and shoppers bonded by curiosity & local spirit. The founders invited me to elevate the visual identity without destroying its integrity.
Local character was a core theme of the carboot and its evolution needed to align with its modest roots. We crafted a visual identity inspired by the charm of nostallgic hand-painted market signage. Their temporary make-up — loose, loud & joyfully imperfect.
At the core of the identity is a bold, characterful wordmark that anchors the brand. A vibrant colour palette, drawn from early market aesthetics, brings energy and warmth, while hand-painted typography adds a perfectly imperfect feel to carry PCB’s playful personality. Two playful graphic devices support the system: vibrant highlighter-style blocks for amplifying messages and a sticker pack perfect for practical event info and playful callouts.
The result is an spirited identity, with integrity, that champions community, celebrates local culture, and ensures Peckham Carboot stands out as a beloved, playfully distinct South London experience.

The Transformative Magic of -ing Verbs

# Unleashing Creativity in Everyday Moments:
Those little -ing verbs known in formal grammar as gerunds, like “creating,” “exploring,” and “imagining,” hold a unique power. They’re not just words; they’re catalysts for creativity, sparking a continuous process of inspiration and growth.
Verbs ending in -ing like “finding” or “improving” not only signify ongoing action but also play a significant role in nurturing creativity. Let’s try to unravel the dynamic force of -ing verbs, focusing on their capacity to inspire continuous development, encourage creativity, and fuel a perpetual journey of exploration.
Let’s dive into the magic of -ing verbs a bit more. These aren’t mere action words; they’re windows into ongoing experiences—a constant ebb and flow of energy that propels us forward. Picture it as a perpetual journey, a dynamic adventure where creativity is at the forefront.

BAI: A simple Bitcoin Address Inspector served as browser extension
https://github.com/design-rrr/bai/

# Bitcoin Address Inspector
A browser extension that automatically detects Bitcoin addresses on webpages and displays their balance, UTXO count, total received amount, and transaction count using the mempool.space API.
> **`Note:`** A quick weekend project that make it easier to inspect bitcoin addresses directly in the browser. This is just the first release, tested, works... not as I would like to! For example, the popup enters in a loop and does not display the data when hovering highlighted the address. I suggest deactivating the option in the settings as show in the image below. Right click option works well, as shown in the screenshot below.
>
> The extension is available for Chrome and FireFox (different branch for each browser). Code is open to contributions, PRs, issues, and any feedback that could help improve it.

Croatia Polyclinic's Digital Billboards Have Your Back

# In a world where most advertising interrupts, this one quietly helps.
What if your morning commute could diagnose a spinal issue before you even made it to work? In a compelling blend of public health, technology, and design, Croatia Polyclinic has partnered with Croatian-based agency Bruketa&Žinić&Grey to turn a national health crisis into a moment of creative intervention.

For Bruketa&Žinić&Grey, long considered one of the region’s most inventive agencies, the project extends beyond a typical creative brief. It reflects a broader approach to design as a reminder of what design can achieve when it moves beyond the brief. A reminder that design can engage with public health not through persuasion alone, but through direct, functional interaction.

Visual Language in Architectural Heritage

# A Semiotic Analysis of the Fahadan Hotel in the Historic City of Yazd, Iran

This study delves into the intersection of semiotics and architecture through an in-depth analysis of the Fahadan Hotel Museum, formerly known as the Tehrani-ha House. This significant property from the Qajar period is located in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Historic City of Yazd, Iran. Drawing upon semiotic theory, the research interprets the visual language of the building as a cultural text composed of signs, symbols, and meanings embedded within its architectural elements. The study examines both the exterior and interior features of the house through denotative, connotative, metaphorical, and metonymic lenses. The findings reveal that architectural forms in Iranian heritage, such as domes, wind-catchers, symmetry, light manipulation, and material choices, function as a semiotic system that reflects spiritual, social, and environmental values. This paper posits that Iranian architecture extends beyond mere aesthetic and functional dimensions, serving as a medium for cultural communication. The semiotic analysis of the Fahadan House underscores the effectiveness of semiotic tools in deciphering the symbolic grammar of architectural heritage and contributes to broader discussions on space, identity, and cultural continuity.

Designing for cultural responsiveness

# Designing Learning Experiences for Inclusivity and Diversity: Advice for Learning Designers
Culture shapes our thoughts, perceptions, actions, and communication styles. It plays a pivotal role in mediating our learning experiences. Consequently, even in a learning environment where teaching methods, resources, curriculum, and relationships remain consistent, students may have diverse experiences. This variance arises because learning and experiences are processed through the lens of cultural viewpoints, prior knowledge and experiences.
In today’s globally connected era, learning designers are tasked with the vital responsibility of shaping curricula and pedagogical approaches that resonate with the diverse cultural tapestries of learners’ cultural backgrounds. This evolving landscape emphasises the criticality of designing learning environments that recognise, honour and actively harness the rich cultural assets each learner contributes. Within this section, we will explore the intricate dimensions of designing for cultural responsiveness. To set a firm foundation for this exploration, we will commence by clarifying the core definition of culture.

Axon’s Draft One is Designed to Defy Transparency
https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2025/07/axons-draft-one-designed-defy-transparency

Axon Enterprise’s Draft One — a generative artificial intelligence product that writes police reports based on audio from officers’ body-worn cameras — seems deliberately designed to avoid audits that could provide any accountability to the public, an EFF investigation has found.
Our review of public records from police agencies already using the technology — including police reports, emails, procurement documents, department policies, software settings, and more — as well as Axon’s own user manuals and marketing materials revealed that it’s often impossible to tell which parts of a police report were generated by AI and which parts were written by an officer.
You can read our full report, which details what we found in those documents, how we filed those public records requests, and how you can file your own, [here](https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2025/07/effs-guide-getting-records-about-axons-ai-generated-police-reports).

Designing for the Eye – Optical Corrections in Architecture and Typography
https://www.nubero.ch/blog/015

People like Paul Renner, who design and draw typefaces, have always known about the intricacies of human perception and how to work in service of it. To illustrate all of this, let’s look at Renner’s 1927 typeface Futura. Futura is what is known as a geometric sans-serif – a typeface that looks as if it was drawn with a ruler and compass. It is made out of straight lines, sharp corners, and seemingly perfect circles and semi-circles.
You might think it far-fetched to draw a connection between typography and architecture, but the two fields are actually more similar than you might have expected. The typesetter or typographer has to plan a layout and a structure in which elements like paragraphs, pictures, and headings fall into place. Similar to the different parts of a building, these elements depend on one another to work both aesthetically and technically. And just as a building’s foundation defines the constraints for what can be built above it, the choice of typeface – and how it is used at its smallest size – usually defines the layout grid, and thus how the rest of a book will be typeset.
