Right. But ‘silly’ is an opinion, not an argument. Also it does not matter for Lowery to be right or wrong whether you are a 2A absolutist or not.
Anyways, the matter seems semantic and legal, and refers to the interpretation of the word ‘Arms’ in the phase ‘the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.’ Lowery seems to propose a broad interpretation which extends to any devices projecting power that may be used for protection of property.
It is in fact a legal question. I do not hold a strong opinion on this matter at the moment, but I would be interested in hearing an opinion from an expert on the US constitutional law.
Can anyone point me to any thoughtful / substantiated critique of Lowery’s #Softwar? Spare me ad hominem attacks on the author and underbaked claims like ‘bitcoin is peace’. I mean the real critique referenced to Lowery’s arguments.

Yep, they may bring such a law and it may slow down or - idk - maybe even speed up the adoption 😄. In any event it would be extremely difficult or even impossible to enforce. We would still be able to pay each other and create circular economies. Plus for privacy we now have LN and Chaumian cash.
I was trying to say that it may be difficult to make Bitcoin illegal without breaching constitutionally protected rights and freedoms in the EU. I am not being Pollyannaish here, I know that politics may tread laws. Still, this would have to mean a change of legal paradigm in the EU.
I hope not. But such a ban would make an interesting case for constitutional tribunals within the EU.
CBDCs will come along with UBI and most people will fall for it.

It’s ok, disagreement is a feature as long as we are able to discuss arguments in a respectful manner. I do not see anything Keynesian about this thesis. It is materialistic to the core but also idealistic in the hope of eliminating or limiting kinetic wars with the use of PoW.
I am not certain Lowery is right, nor is he certain about it (so it seems). So far I find the thesis well written and well argued. But I have not finished reading yet, so my final thoughts are still in the making.
Like it or not, but Lowery’s 'Softwar' is a brilliant read.
