Just checked. That's actually something else. People are replying to a badge event, which is interesting but not supported by NostrGram. It only lets you read/reply to note (Kind 1) threads and notes. Badges aren't supposed to be reply-able. 🤷
Yeah NostrGram can't load hellthreads right now. It's on my list to update it so the nested replies only load when you click the "Show Replies" link/button. Right now it attempts to load all replies at once and that maxes out the per-request memory size and it just doesn't do it.
If you DM me your IP (whenever you can) I'll make sure it's not been inadvertently blocked by the bot code.
Hi Jon, Still no joy.
Things I've tried:
Restart (Brave) browser.
Close nostrgram.co tab and relaunch w/https://nostrgram.co/?nows=1.
Launch https://nostrgram.co/?nows=1 in Chrome
All produce similar results... slow performance, stalls, occasional "Page Unresponsive" msgs. And btw, with https://nostrgram.co/?nows=1 when I go to my notifications page I see msgs and threads listed there that I did not participate in and which are in no way replying to me??
very puzzling behavior
I don't know what the performance issues are. I haven't been able to duplicate that (especially the 'unresponsive' issue). I'll do a performance test and see. Regarding the notifications, if you're *anywhere* up the chain you'll be tagged in the replies by most clients. So even if they're not responding to you -- if you were in the thread somewhere up the chain, you'll get a notification. It's in my to-do to stop those by walking the tree and seeing if you're really involved in the response or not. It's also on my to-do list to allow muting of threads.
Actually here's one last thing to try. Bypass using the websocket server by using this link. If you could, let me know if that makes a difference. It has for a few people.
Okay. That's odd. I'm not seeing that on any of the half-dozen browsers I'm using both on my Windows machine and my Mac and my phone. So I'm not sure what the problem might be.
Try using it without the web sockets. That seems to be an issue for a few people. Use this link
I do, but mostly I put hundreds of pretty much unpaid hours of work into making a great Nostr client.
🙏 to those who continue to ⚡. I can't keep working on NostrGram without your support. 💜
Is anyone else experiencing NostrGram hanging when you try to refresh the page in Chrome? It's happening to me intermittently but only in Chrome (not in Opera, Edge, FireFox, Brave or Vivaldi). It's showing an odd error in the dev console so I'm checking to see if it's something specific to my setup or if others have the issue.
No it's not scanning for duplicates yet. So many things on my to-do list... the drive space use is small atm so it's not my first priority.
4,000 media uploads to NostrGram.

What specific issues do you have with NostrGram? I'm open to suggestions for improvement.

It's odd because in my dev environment with the web server running on my laptop Alby doesn't work. It throws an error when I try to use it. But Nos2x works fine. But on the public web server Alby works just fine and I've had a few people say Nos2x doesn't work for them. I'm not sure what's different since all the extension is doing is injecting code onto the page to provide access to an object on the window. It's not complicated, so I'm not sure why it's so finicky.
No the code for encrypting/decrypting messages hasn't changed since I first implemented it.
Thank you! 💯 I hate doing anything on the phone. I've made NostrGram mobile-friendly for the times I'm away, but doing any serious interaction on a phone makes me ill. But then I'm 46 so old enough to remember the days without any device at all, let alone a handheld supercomputer.
