If you trust your bank .. all they do is maintain one database. Okay - two because they do regular back ups .. may be three - one for disaster recovery.. good people !

If you don't ..

Digital information decays pretty fast .. expiry is inbuilt in the nature ..

The harder part is to make it unexpirable .. that is why #bitcoin is so precious..
