I am providing real life examples, not a straw man argument. How would the market solve the issue of iodine defficiency? Perhaps those people living in areas of endemic goitre with undamaged IQ would be enticed to buy high iodine containing foods?

You could say the same about smallpox eradication, which would not have been possible without vaccination programs. These are just examples. I am not talking about individual healthcare, which can and should be privatized, but public health services.

No, you don't get to impose simple answers about a complex topic. Violence is justified when it comes to self defence, which is why we form governments. Public health also extends to stuff like food safety, which can protect people from poisoning in case the producer decides to cut corners.

You do realize goitre and cretinism were a very serious medical condition. It is now almost completely eradicated due to salt iodination laws. I just fail to see how market mechanisms can accomplish this in a state of anarchy.

Salt manufacturers were forced to add iodine to salt, which cured people of a serious disease.

I would like to hear a libertarian argument against public healthcare. An example is salt iodination. In some parts of the US and in most parts of my country there was a very high incidence of goiter, which came hand in hand with a birth defect called cretenism. Salt iodination has completely eliminated these conditions, but today it may be linked to a drastic increase in Hashimoto incidence. But still, I would argue that Hashimoto is more benign than cretenism and other goitre related complications. What are your thoughts?

Yup, that's pretty much accurate. 1-2% of ALL women now have Hashimoto disease. If our hunter gatherers were as sick as we are today, we would have gone extinct a long time ago.

They are number 2. Number 1 is a drug called Humira, which is a "miracle drug" used for treating autoimmune diseases, especially rheumatoid arthritis.

Look up the incidence rate of autoimmune disease on a historical chart btw. Everyone is bloody sick these days with one of these.

It's where personality goes to die. Nothing is real, everything is partyspeak.

Linked in is like a soulles black hole. The longer you interact with it, the more of your soul gets sucked out.

It really opens your eyes on how addicted we all are to food.

Correction - the previous graph shows food lbs, this one shows calories. The point remains the same.

Total annual calorie intake has remained about the same since the 90s, yet obesity and diabetes rates have increased.

Calories are a flawed model of measuring metabolic health, or tracking food intake. They are units of heat energy. Humans are open biological systems that rely on chemical ATP production.

At best the calorie is just a correlate, but one that completely ignores human biology.

I may have overgeneralized, but owning guns is much more difficult in the EU than in the USA.

Over 20% of Israel population are Arabs.

Dude my highly educated sibling thought we were on a gold standard. Highly specialized experts are complete manipulable morons, we need more generalized knowledge; we need more renaissance men.
