We decided to take a break from the farm after how busy this spring was... Meaning we were down to our cows and a some sheep (instead of all that plus gardening, broiler chickens, and pigs).

Well, that decision lasted barely 2 months.

I credit (blame?) nostr:nprofile1qqsw29v43h6gj0n8su23m9qp9glvn0fkvg0j2p67j2xlg5e74e9q7fspz3mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujumnnv43juctswqq3samnwvaz7tmjv4kxz7fwxyehymm0d5h8xurpvdjszynhwden5te0wp6hyurvv4cxzeewv4esw3lgdj and the educational note about ducks. I guess I was 'influenced'. Congratulations, you're officially an influencer! ...I also expected my wife to put up some resistance to the idea, but that didn't happen. ๐Ÿคท

We didn't end up with ducks, but rather white Chinese geese.

Truth is I've been loosely keeping my eye out specifically for this breed for about a year or so now and a listing just happened to come up a short drive away.

They're temporarily closed in the barn to settle in, but they'll be out to roam the farm and swim the pond in no time.

I want a Christmas goose, just like Tiny Tim.

I donโ€™t want to do end grain for this. It totally changes the look and I wouldnโ€™t be cutting on the countertop, Iโ€™d be using a cutting board. (Maybe with the scraps I could make an end grain cutting board.) 7โ€™ lengths would get me the whole length, but could do smaller lengths butted together if I had to. Iโ€™d be gluing face grain to face grain or edge grain to edge grain. Depends what I can get. If the grain runs diagonally itโ€™s kind of half face and half edge.

A butcher block countertop for the kitchen island. 7โ€™x3โ€™. I may mix some other wood species with it, so wouldnโ€™t need the whole amount.

Yeungling Oktoberfest is only available in cans this year. So much for being classy. #beer

Iโ€™m looking for some apple wood lumber. If anyone has any sources, please reach out and let me know. #woodworking

โ€ฆ says the lady with purple hair?

Still working out the kinks, but Iโ€™ll get there.
