“Thank you for YOUR service”
This one particularly grated on me because when I ‘served’ I was 17 years old and only joined the military because I barely escaped high school with no idea what else to do. My ‘service’ was completely self-service as was the ‘service’ of 90% of the people I ‘served’ with. There was no altruistism invlolved and this obligatory expression of thanks distorts the actual motives of our state sponsored mercenary forces. Even with the increased focus on ‘service’ and ‘patriotism’ in recent decades I’m sure the majority of ‘servicemembers’ are there because they need a job and know they’ll have their basic needs addressed on base.
A song lyric got stuck in my head for a bit. I let it roll around in my head wondering how it might apply to my life. Turns out it’s not that complicated. Despite whatever else I might worry about, life’s been pretty good so far.

Much thanks #[2]
Heads up. Mother’s day is around the corner.

(Dumb?) Question… if it’s estimated that 20-25% of all #Bitcoin is already locked out due to lost keys, what happens as it slowly dwindles over decades and centuries as people inevitably lose track of accounts and people die without passing on custody?
Sounds like you teach kids at the same school as my wife.
It’s pretty hit-or-miss after the prequals. I bet you guess when it became more miss than hit. 🐭🐭🐭
You are old school. And that’s awesome.
it''s available for ios. see the github link i posted for the link. alternatively you can find it on their website here: https://organicmaps.app/
Just downloaded the ios app. Look’s promising. Thanks!
There is so much ‘free’ content in the world that even if something I like a lot has a ‘Subscriber Portion’ I just consume the free stuff and move on to the next free stuff. I don’t care what’s behind your paywall.
When it comes to services there are a couple I pay for.
I would love some weight loss. Unfortunately I just replaced drinking with eating lots of crap. My next challenge is eliminating 🍪🍰🥖🧁🎂🍩🍭🍦🍫🍬🍨. Or maybe I just accept I’ll never be perfect. We all suffer cardiac arrest at some point, right?
Congratulations! Obviously only you can make that decision for yourself, but I would encourage you to continue. I’ve been alcohol free for a good while now and I like the sober me better, both for health and social reasons.
Solid list. I always live Skynyrd, Jim Croce, and Pink Floyd.
For about twenty years I only ever knew Pink Floyd for The Wall. Then one day I put Dark Side of the Moon in a massive play list (2000+ songs) on shuffle and every time a Dark Side track came on it grabbed my attention. After a week or so I finally just put Dark Side on and listened start-to-finish. I can’t believe how good it is. I’m kind of pissed I never listened to it earlier.
MSG and Hot Tuna I’m only familiar with in passing. I need to carve out some time for them.

#2 Stone Temple Pilots – Core

Early days of the grunge movement, and I was completely submerged in it. As a sophomore in high school and a bit of an outcast, not just the music of STP, but also the flare and flamboyant feel of the band and Scott Weiland made me want to be them. Core was one of the tapes I always kept close at hand to throw in the car stereo and blast riding into the arcade parking lot.
I always had a funny feeling about Core though, because of the varying tone from song to song. “Dead & Bloated” and “Sex Type Thing” were so obviously hard and grunge, but “Wicked Garden” and “Plush” had very different feels. I didn’t think too hard about it at the time, but coming back to it later just reiterated that bands are more than just what they’re marketed as.
My 10 year old made my 9 year old’s birthday cake today with minimal supervision. Fantastic job V! #cake #birthday #baking

I understand the word faith is a hard one to accept because of its relationship with religion and saying that having faith is delusional is a fun way to say religious people are delusional without actually saying it. But having faith in your abilities to move forward into the future that is unknown is not the same thing as having faith in a risen savior, a God speaking through a burning bush, or a flying bowl of spaghetti. Though I would encourage us all to look more closely at two out of those three.
You have a lot of good insight. I can tell by looking through your history and your right, we should absolutely lean on our past experiences to move us forward.
I don’t. Past experience is the basis for belief.
