Writing a book about Nostr Ceterum censeo NIP-03 omnibus esse utendum

Gigi is probably drunk and is just spewing contextless bold statements; the beauty of which is that you can read into it whatever you want

Do I? Other than the beard i dont think i changed much🤔

Did you forget to timestamp your message? Or is it still pending? Regardless, i innitated a time stamp for you :)

And my point is that some people are more sensitive to alienation then others in the first place. I also think that it is not true that 'freedom tech is not a partisan issue', it surely is.

What do you value more? Freedom of association, or protection against harm? 'These' people are far more concerned with the latter than the former, it is also why Bitcoin does not appeal as much; censorship resistance is probably not even on their list, given censoring, outcasting etc. is their main means of wielding power. Say 'censorship resistance' and their first concern is some evil person gets that perk as well. Neutrality is not some neutral position.

Sorry, but he has a point. There are many studies from different vectors that show this, as well as simply paying attention to the world around you; "the left" is far more agreeable, but that also means they actually have a higher demand for 'moderation'(to shield them from less agreeable people), to the point where they have very low tollerence for 'outsiders they consider evil' even existing.

Case in point this youtube comment under some photographer dude video announcing he is leaving X and Instagram and is trying out Nostr:

"How can you be assured that any relay you are subscribed to does not also hosts far right conspiracy theorist crackpots."

This, is a demand, a very stupid version of the demand if you ask me, but still. This type of person needs a lot more developer care and attention before Nostr is viable for them. And that is fine, but it is also a demand people, who dont have such demands, can ignore.

Having a demand for being welcomed is as much a preference as a demand for strife.

The point of Nostr is freedom of association, and its not others peoples problem or responcibility if someone happens to lack people to associate with. Not even Will the appbuilder.

This is not a family, not a tribe, not a community, not a nation; its (just) a protocol on the vast chaotic plain where time and space are dissolved that we call the internet.

Zoek/bouw je eigen boomhut, het bos is oneindig.

test

Why put the client in the tag? And i am looking at it in amethyst and it normally shows PoW, but it did not on this one, maybe 4 zeros was not impressive enough🤔

I was not aware the ppq guy is on Nostr. But in general: <3 to everyone that allow me to pay for things with btc online.

Shoutout to nostr:nprofile1qqsdy27dk8f9qk7qvrm94pkdtus9xtk970jpcp4w48k6cw0khfm06mspp4mhxue69uhkummn9ekx7mqpz9mhxue69uhkummnw3e82cfwvdhk6qg5waehxw309aex2mrp0yhxgctdw4eju6t09x35fm

ppq.ai

And il shoutout lnvpn.net while i am at it

Failed introduction though if it did not take off 😉. The point was not on who was first to use it; but the fact he wrote a specifc treatise on the subject arguing/promoting its use (De Thiende in 1585). His system did not even use a point but explicitly mentioning the value of the number possition.

So 1.234 would be 1(0)2(1)3(2)4.

Which was rather clunky but i gues it made it clear what he was doing.

If you are bored and want to look up a cool dude: Simon Stevin (1548 - 1620).

His first publication was a buch of tables with interest calculations, showing the true cost of debt to the public at large; something that was a trade secret closely held by bankers up until then.

He introduced the decimal system into Europe, a physics proof here and there, and translated the sciences into Dutch because Dutch is obviously the superiour language spoken by Adam and Eve.

He also made this thing

The investment thesis behind platforms is via network effect become the be-all-end-all so users can't/won't escape; at which point the sheering starts.

My investment thesis behind Nostr is via network effect become the be-all-end-all so users are free.

Your personal graph becomes the holy grail.

In 2011 I wrote 3 articles about this in Dutch:

1. We're giving away everything

https://sebastix.nl/blog/we-geven-alles-weg/

2. Personal data are outlawed

https://sebastix.nl/blog/persoonlijke-data-zijn-vogelvrij/

3. Your personal graph

https://sebastix.nl/blog/jouw-personal-graph/

They are very related to Nostr in someway so I would like to republish them in English.

What good translation services / tools are out there which I can use?

#askNostr

https://ppq.ai/ allows you to pay with lighting to get a couple of queries. You can try a bunch of models if need be. And indeed you can always try https://www.deepl.com/en/translator as mentioned

Yes, i do think that is a good idea; I actuall printed out some QR codes, but i forgot about them so they stayed in my backback😅.

The pdf is great, but you can also print a qr code containing nostr:, so they can easily get to your profile (or use NFC), and then you can post a list of accounts you think are usefull to get people bootstrapped.

Good luck :)

Nostr, where your puritanical attitude towards cryptography dies in the name of dirty disgusting revolting pragmatism and convenience.

Now, I have copy-pasted and cleartext .txt-file stored many bitcoin keys in my days, but nothing as absurd as how I have treated my nsec thus far. There may be a solution that is great, if only we take our sensibilities to a dark alley and shoot it in the face.

FROST is a threshold multi-signature scheme that allows you to take your Nsec, and turn it into a multi-sig where a majority needs to coordinate in order to create a valid signature under your Npub.

Check out a demo here (don’t actually use this): https://join.the-nostr.org/.

It is simple: you put in a nsec, and you get a bunker URL back. Subsequently you can schizo-store the smashed in steel nsec away deep inside the tunnel network underneath your home, and instead copy paste that URL into all those different Nostr clients.

Lost your URL? Or did the service go down? No problem! Just venture back into those tunnels, re-acquire your nsec and create another set-up at another service elsewhere, easy. Did your URL get compromised? Ask the signers to stop cooperating and reset the multi-sig.

Obviously you run the risk that the signers you made part of the multi-signature scheme collude and compromise your secret. But honestly, in a world where you are supposed to keep a secret superduper safe, but also are expected to use it all the time; getting to a point where the ‘keep it superduper safe’ becomes a lot easier because what you ‘use all the time’ is some derivative in a trusted set-up that can be swapped out, might just be an actual step forward.

Ceterum censeo Carthaginem esse delendam.
