I think there’s some old saying that goes like: As much as the young learn from the old… the old need to learn from the young
Congrats on getting this meme templated
If it's before summer season then I only like Miami area beaches... Not sure if you would consider anything there a hidden gem but you could do mid beach instead of south beach for a more chill environment. Miami area has best weather and warmest water before summer season. During peak summer... I don't know I haven't traveled enough.
The issue is that the type of person who would want to use something like StartOS or Umbrel... They probably don't want to take the extra steps to move out the Bitcoin node. There's probably some security concerns as well... StartOS can probably do a better job at security if it's all running inside itself. It starts to get complicated (which breeds mistakes) and I find myself wanting to skip it all and just use Bitcoin minimally. No lightning... No ecash... Just as a store of value until I'm confident of the tools and software to run 2nd/3rd layers on my own hardware securely and redundantally.
nostr:npub126ntw5mnermmj0znhjhgdk8lh2af72sm8qfzq48umdlnhaj9kuns3le9ll is there an option like "ignore this update" or "dont remind me" to dismiss the update notification/badge
I'm pretty sure you can run a separate Bitcoin node outside of Start9 but inside your own network and then point Start9 to use that. At least that's how I would want to use it. I don't like the idea of running my Bitcoin node as part of that kind all-in-one package.
Sorta like Saylor with his cyberhornets and digital energy…

Weird thing is… at my local grocery store the ice cream containers went from 1 quart to 1.5 quarts and so far the price has stayed the same as when it was 1 quart.
Ok you twisted my arm... I activated my Primal wallet. Not ideal but I couldn't find an easy to setup multinode lightning setup so I gave up on trying to run my own lightning node. If you're still in the giving mood give it another try.
I say standard because they are used everywhere in panels for fire alarms, security systems, things like that for battery backup. Here's a link to one at home Depot. You can search for 12v 8a SLA battery. I'm sure there's reddit posts and YouTube videos of people diy'ing there UPS batteries
Usually they're just 2 or 4 standard 12v 8a batteries out together and you can buy those yourself and take apart the previous battery back and redo the new ones from the taken apart ones. Might not be as pretty but it'll be cheaper than the official premade battery pack.
You’re always doing that even if you have a calendar
I’ve been looking into this for a few months. There’s nothing out there that’s ready to go for home usage. In my use case I want to setup 3 to 5 nodes at family’s homes to create an HA cluster. The main issue is keeping the Lightning database synced… latency and keeping private keys private being the main obstacles.
Since it would be for just me and maybe family down the line I would be ok with losing some speed to make it easier to keep the database in sync and then use something like wireguard to connect the nodes securely on their own VPN.
Supposedly the Cashu guy is going to try to work on HA. I would think BTCpay server would want HA as well so I’m hoping they’re working on it being the scenes.
Wow, right after I posted that, I found out that the same account that introduced the xz backdoor also introduced a vulnerability into libarchive in 2021!
It wasn't caught until two days ago, and only because the xz backdoor happened to get caught.
So yeah, more evidence that this happens more frequently than people realize.

What if the real long game is to attack anonymous code contribution?
I think I read an article saying burying plastic is the best. It originated from the ground and it should return to the ground where it will, eventually, turn back into oil.
