Happiness is sharing a big pot of malted crème brûlée with the family for lunch. Happiness is also potlucking for Thanksgiving.
Just finished an interview on my new book, Slow Schooling. I hope it will be an encouragement to parents that they not only *can* homeschool their children, but they can enjoy it as well.
On trusting God in the midst of prepping as a young mother (and now)...
"But as it does, the world does seep in, and soon enough I became educated on the Real State of Things. The grocery store, was in fact, full of laboratory experiments marketed as stuff for human consumption…and by no mistake, had a pharmacy within to offset the side effects of eating said products. I learned about pesticides, GMO’s, CAFO’s, EMF’s, and the history of the AMA...."
We always do Thanksgiving with another family who invited our large crowd as we don't have any extended family here. It's rare anyone will invite a family with a lot of kids (esp with special needs kids) anywhere at all!
I'm writing an article re: use of herbals and home remedies for livestock, and will be meeting with another farmer and vet who do/use likewise to combine our knowledge and experiences into one helpful resource specifically for homesteaders.
Could you help me out by telling me the most common ailments you see or are concerned about for your animals? A list would be fine. And thanks!

I think this is a brilliant idea! It would be SO great to have someone actually help me with a degoogled phone (is Above Phone good??) non-Apple computer, zapping abilities, where to best/safely exchange dollars for Bitcoin, etc. I am learning, slowly, but the fear of doing something wrong and causing a major screw up is big. I guess if I'm here, I actually *have* learned a lot so far! Lots of good winter reading and courses lined up 😁
Picked up our turkey and wanted to take some of these home, too! On another good note, my truck was a quick and easy fix--remove the metal plate that fell from a repair that was done (before it was mine) and had gotten jammed into the gears. Lame that that happened but I was happy not to have it be a bigger deal!
GM. Sneak peak of sun before the cloud cover rolls in. I wish I could snowbird outta the PNW for the season.
Picking up our turkey today from a farmer friend who raised it for us. Very thankful for her family to do that (of course we're paying them).
Nursing a cold today (I believe it's actually a detox but whatever). Plenty of echinacea and chicken broth and sauna time ahead.
Have a great Monday, everyone!
GM. Looking forward to a quiet day, Lord willing. Church (so thankful for my local church!), potluck fellowship, and time to dream and plan about my spring garden. Maybe get some knitting in. Sometimes I get anxious about how far behind I am in everywhere I want to be, but all I can is keep showing up and keep learning. Glad to be here where so much kindness and sanity is. Have a nice Sunday ❤️
This is encouraging. I'm still in the phase of, "Wait, what? What is this?!" And now that I know, I can't learn fast enough! But I can't go backwards so I'll just take it a day at a time and do my best to learn and figure it out. That's all I can do.
Well it was one of those days when I was trying to get stuff done but my truck kept slipping out of gear so I finally coaxed it all the way into town to my mechanic. I wish I could have gotten all the rock out of the back first 😕
So I'm making a pizza for the littles now while the olders head out and I think I need a warm batch of brownies made and a good movie to watch once everyone else is in bed. Maybe a White Russian as well.

Thought I'd share my face care. It doesn't need a lot of money. I find a lot of commercial face products actually produce the problems they say they're solving. For example, a cleanser will strip your face of its natural oils, which then requires a moisturizer, which then forms a layer on your skin which needs exfoliating....
Sometimes I'll buy commercial products if I recognize each and every ingredient. Which is rare.
I've got a few professional facials in my life, mostly for the relaxation, but I can't afford to do them very often and besides--a lot of the products are not good for my skin to eat!
So for the dailies, this is my current lineup. Essential oils chosen for their antioxidant, antibacterial and antiseptic properties (among other reasons). Dilution is 2%, safe for everyday use.
Cleansing--2 oz sesame oil infused with calendula mixed with quality olive oil, 12 drops bergamot eo, 8 drops geranium, 4 drops rosemary.
Tonic: rose water
Moisten (my face is balanced but tends to be drier in winter): apricot kernel oil mixed with calendula sesame oil, 16 drops lavender and 8 drops frankincense.
Both the cleanser and moisturizer are pretty much interchangeable. In fact, you could use straight olive oil (and many other oils depending on your skin condition) and nothing else! All ingredients are organic, as they should be.
What does your facial skin eat?

When you move into a house that is the best deal you can get for this area (even as you don't even want to live in this area anymore) and one by one, things need repair and replacing right off the bat (like the ROOF $$$$$ that the inspector couldn't really see the damage to) so you can't even GET to putting up a new fence or buying the livestock you want because you find surprises like this one. THIS is how the dishwasher (broken for months now) was being run.
"That's why I asked, I was trying to be polite." 😂😂😂
I am weary today. Some days I don't know HOW to not grow weary. I don't know when that due time is to reap a harvest, or if l'll even see it. This morning I thought of the apostle John, living out his days in banishment on Patmos island. Sure, he wrote some letters and a book. But I doubt he knew then what kind of harvest those would bring. So what did he do all day long, year after year after year? Did he ever grow weary? If we didn't ever grow weary, would we even need the admonition to NOT grow weary? Even my thinking is wearisome today. Does your pilgrimage ever feel heavy? Faith is keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus, regardless. Thankful even that is His work, not mine ❤️
It only works on TestFlight. For everyone else, there’s nostr:npub1wxl6njlcgygduct7jkgzrvyvd9fylj4pqvll6p32h59wyetm5fxqjchcan.
Yeah TestFlight is closed. I'll check out Zapple, thanks
