"This time of year I find myself slungshot quite a bit between heady inspiration and debilitating depression..."

Trying to figure out how to live a quieter, more simple lifestyle while I still have seven children at home (don't laugh!). Plus the dark this time of year challenges me. Plus I'm 50something and not as energetic as I used to be. Some ransom thoughts.

It’s been over two months since my child was born, and I’ve happily returned to being able to wear pants when I want 😊

This means it’s long past time to follow up on what I found to fill my need for a better thigh holster to wear with skirts and dresses.

I never found one, per se. But wearing these cotton bike shorts under dresses and skirts was a game changer:

Nirlon Biker Shorts with Pockets

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PG47QXD

They’re 92% cotton, 8% elastane, which I find comfortable and acceptable enough as a natural fiber maxi. Being skintight biker shorts, they fill the niche of underskirt shorts for comfort even without the pockets, which are just large enough to carry a snub-nosed Smith and Wesson J-frame in a pocket holster β€” meaning most other reasonable concealment guns in pocket holsters will fit with no problem.

This puts the gun on the outside of the thigh, which I was concerned about for no reason. There was no printing, though it might be a concern for clothing that is tight on the thigh. Additionally, since it holds it slightly higher on the thigh than most thigh holsters, which seem to put the gun just above the knee, it feels much safer to wear midi-length dresses, which is great because good floor-length dresses are basically impossible to find unless you are cool with polyester and rayon (again, like my ideal dress, I am a cotton maxi πŸ˜‰)

Holding just the weight of the gun in one pocket, these stayed up very well, though as pregnancy belly grew even more, the waistband needed a little rolling down. Putting loaded speed strips in the other pocket as well seemed a great idea, but proved a little too much weight for the shorts. The other pocket was a handy place to store phone and ID when wearing dresses that don’t have pockets, though, so this is a pro tip even for those of you who don’t wish to carry a gun.

I never tried running in these while carrying, but it held everything securely through energetic walking and 90+ degree angles of sitting.

All in all, highly recommend, 10/10 β€” this one item of clothing helped me stay able to protect myself during a particularly vulnerable time, and has revolutionized my potential wardrobe. I only wish it came in more colors suitable to underskirt shorts, like flesh tones and white. Hope this review helps a bunch of ladies πŸ’œ

Hi nostr, its been a mostly relaxing Sunday, and i have thoroughly enjoyed this day. I spent alot of outdoor time, just enjoying the sunshine and perfect temps.

I'm part of a small local Telegram group that kinda keeps me updated about local politics in our town, and up to now we've only had one meetup. But I suggested we start meeting more regularly, to discuss a variety of things. A couple of members are ham operators, so we'll be having a meetup soon, about ham radio and being able to communicate with each other in case of emergencies or loss of internet, etc. I'm looking forward to learning a bit about it, plus i just think its a good idea to keep in touch with freedom minded locals. I know for sure that one of them is a bitcoiner, and i might ask at the meetup if anyone is interested in doing a btc meetup next. I hope so.

Well thats about all i have to report today. We're just living our quiet lives out here in the country, just the way we like it. Yall have a good evening nostr friends. #grownostr #countrylife #homesteading

I love this idea.

She did a nice job on them. I especially like the dog picture ❀️

Thanks! I think she did a nice job.

πŸ˜³πŸ€” I'm reading about how people are able to heat that way. I just don't get it yet. I need a good YT channel or something to help me see it and understand it all better. Any ideas?

My daughter made some signs for our property. My favorite one is for where we buried our livestock dog. I still miss him and the goats and flocks he protected. Maybe someday my family will want to do that again; I sure do. I'm just trying to keep my head down and write in between all of the home care and children right now. Plus trying to figure out where in the house I can get seeds going; the greenhouse that came with the property is cute, but too cold to get anything going in it. I'm not opposed to turning half of my dining room into a jungle in order to get the headstart in my garden later this spring.

so, you're a new nostrich that's graduated out of #introductions and now you're looking to learn a bit more about relays. did you know that you can run your own relay? this mediumly simple task allows you to harness the true power of nostr by putting you in charge of your social graph.

what exactly does that mean? it just means that you'll be able to control your social data - your notes, your contacts, your events, all of it. this prevents you from being rugged or censored. this puts you in control. pretty cool, eh?

you have several options and i'll list a few of them here for you:

if you're a bitcoiner, you may be running a "node" at home. if this is the case, then you already have some of the tools available to you. umbrel, mynode, and start9 all offer one click to install solutions for nostr relays.

umbrel: https://w3.do/ScRzQT2U

mynode: https://w3.do/1yPlc3RX

start9: https://w3.do/-GL2ifVz

if you don't have a node or aren't running one of the above platforms, you can get started by installing these operating systems on existing hardware - from used computers, to used laptops, to newly built machines or even raspberry pis.

if you have dedicated hardware and you're a bit on the tech savvy side, you can go a tiny bit deeper and manually install your nostr relay. you can choose between several relay implementations here, such as nostream or strfry.

nostream: https://w3.do/1E07DCyf

strfry: https://w3.do/7kKoYwtl

if you don't have dedicated hardware at home and you're a bit tech savvy, then you'll surely know that you can also buy a virtual server on a cloud provider's infrastructure. the options of providers here are nearly endless.

if all of this seems like a different language for you and seems over your head, but you still want to run a personal relay for yourself, your family, or your local community, have no fear, a solution still exists for you. you can visit a dedicated relay provider and purchase a relay with just a few clicks of a mouse button.

Relaying: https://w3.do/FqvChHmV

do you have to run a relay? no! you do not! this is a task that isn't for everyone. this is only for those that want to be sovereign over their own social data.

if you have any questions, feel free to ask here and either myself or another knowledgeable nostrich will help out.

This is so helpful thank you

GM. Early start here as usual, trying to get half a day's work finished before the kids are up and my work *really* gets going. Today I've got a sourdough flatbread going, mixed with wild ramp powder, garlic, thyme and black sesame. I'm going to have to come up with a good soup to go with it, maybe tomato based, I dunno.

I need to make a coffee. So I can get two minutes in to enjoy it before the rush. Just wanted to stop in and say hiya and hope you all have a good day wherever you are πŸ‘‹

T'was! Winter = soups and stews and baking in these parts πŸ˜‹

They were cut into quarters 😁
