Thats the thing that sucks about Nostr's timing. It did have some interest on Twitter early on, but that's when it was in a pretty rough state. People showed up, it wasnt smooth, so they left. Now its matured quite a bit but it just doesnt get the attention now. Really unfortunate because it has so much potential.

Until/Unless Twitter royally pisses people off and there's a mass exodus (and not a fake exodus like Bluesky, people really leave permanently) I don't see it getting to that point. Twitter just has the network effect thats very hard dethrone. Nostr would need to get much much larger for content creators to pull in enough zaps to make a living.

Why Doesn’t It Happen Today?

There were times when people rose up together. The French Revolution was exactly that—a moment when the masses stood up, overturned the system, and brought down those who held the whip. But today? Today we have autocrats, populists, men with whips—Trump, Putin, Erdogan, and others—yet the great uprising doesn’t come. Why?

Maybe because control has become more subtle. In the past, the tyrant stood openly, with visible power and brute force. Today, it’s the media, algorithms, distractions. The whip is invisible, but it works. Division instead of unity. Distraction instead of focus. A system that gives just enough to dampen dissatisfaction, but not enough to bring real change.

Maybe it’s also because we still have too much to lose. Not enough to be content, but enough not to risk everything. As long as the system gives us just enough—a job, a smartphone, a certain stability—the great uprising stays out of reach.

In the past, the enemy was clear: a king, a nobility, a tyrant. Today, the lines are blurred. Some see the danger in the state, others in corporations, others in elites or migrants. How can anyone unite?

And then there’s fear. The memory that revolutions often bring not only freedom, but also chaos, violence, and uncertainty. Maybe that holds us back.

In the end, it doesn’t happen because we still have too much to lose—or because we no longer know who the real enemy is. And because we don’t stand up together.
