For a freer society with free individuals working voluntarily. Developer, technology, business, cooperatives, networker, etc. Based in Portugal. https://linktree.com/citizenpedro #europe #portugal #spain I also like Switzerland and think it has by far one of the most voluntaryist systems in the world. The medium is the message. Long live #nostr. Feel free to send messages :)

Yeah exactly. Lighthing Network is a good tool for that right?

Do you any clients that have implemented NIP-87 or more specifically Encrypted Group chats (as in Telegram) with encrypted messages?

I was looking through https://github.com/nostr-protocol/nips/pull/875

But couldn't find Encrypted group chats in Coracle?

Thanks!

The only democracy in the world is Switzerland.

All the other countries are a joke dominated by the political class, parties, etc...

We've been living on lies upon lies since forever. The people with power convince everyone of everything by repeating lies.

The greatest lie was that you live in a democracy.

Your attention is the most fundamental thing you have.

The reason why Nostr is fundamental is that it will allow you to define exactly where do you want to spend your attention on.

The model is top-down everywhere, where the already established eat everything. This will change with Nostr, with much more flexible, fine-tunable, configurations and models for discovering what you're looking for.

We will discover exactly who and what we're looking for AND we will discover to lead, not to follow. The following, follower dynamic will change with Nostr.

They speak different languages, French and German, they have different churches, they were killing each other up until 1848. Very important. They were killing each other until 1848, Sonderbund Wars. The system is the reason they stopped killing each other. They are not heading for civil war like all the other "democracies".

There's also Islam in the picture (in more or less the same percentage as other Western Europe countries, 7%) and they're also integrated, you don't see the problems you see on other Western Europe countries like the UK, France, for example. Also not trivial at all in my view.

The system works. I think the scale is irrelevant. It's more than clear for me the more I study it. The system works and we gotta learn with what works.

The world is polarized, divided and collapsing because there are no political system in any nation-states (in any but one) that are joining the best of the left and the best of the right, in other words, creating actual solutions that work for EVERYONE from the bottom-up, precisely defined by the PEOPLE with orderly referendums, solutions that promote meritocracy and that actually work for everyone in way or the other, that can be paid, are economical, low debt, long-term, etc...

Trump won't do what you want him to do, Kamala even less. Milei will reach a point where he will be wrong. Bukele probably already is getting there.

Because they simply don't have the mechanisms. There are no mechanisms for them to represent both the short and long term. How can the people tell Trump what you think is important in short and long term? With protests? Screaming more? Screaming less? There are no mechanisms to serve the people, especially in the long term. How can they precisely know what the people want? What's measuring and defining that? There's nothing measuring that with precision, process and order.

We need better leaders (and culture) too sure but most of all we need BETTER systems.

And that system until now IS the Swiss model. The Swiss model has been working perfectly since 1848. Switzerland is the richest country in the world per capita. Neutral, peaceful, not even part of Nato.

The Swiss model:

- People vote on about 16 referendums 3 times per year. All kinds of referendums. Stuff like taxes (they often reject tax raises, taxes are very low in Switzerland), if they should build a new statue at a municipal level, public transit, what can be taught in school, everything, etc, etc.

- People's Veto Power: In Switzerland the people can reject ANY law at the federal, cantonal and municipal level. On a federal level they need 50k signatures for that law to go to referendum. Which is nothing compared to the population.

The US doesn't have the People Veto Power at the federal level. Switzerland does. If the US had this veto power, there would be no wars for example, because wars would be vetoed by the people.

- Federalism: In Switzerland the cantons have independent constitutions with independent courts, education, and police.

- Open Lists (Panachage): Voters can choose candidates from any party in elections.

- People's Initiatives: Citizens propose laws with 100,000 signatures, leading to a referendum at any level. Meaning anybody can create new laws.

- Constitutional Referendums: All constitutional changes require a public referendum. The US has not nothing like this.

- Public Recalls: Elected officials can be removed through recall elections.

Check out this video if you want to know more about this system:

This is the most voluntaryist and libertarian system created.

- Corporate Tax Rates: Switzerland offers highly competitive corporate tax rates as low as 11.9%, making it an attractive location for businesses seeking tax efficiency.

- Low Income Tax: Personal income tax can be as low as 10% in cantons like Zug, benefiting individuals with average salaries.

- Personal Income Tax: Swiss personal income tax rates range between 22% to 45%, varying by canton.

- Value-Added Tax (VAT): Switzerland has one of the lowest VAT rates in Europe at 7.7%, benefiting consumers and businesses.

Is anybody interested in building a DVM (data vending machine) for finding business or co-founders?

Bitcoin is one of the very few real things in the world. People will see that with time.

In 30 years we're going to have a much more real world because of it.

Keep calm and carry on.

HI've noticed on Threads, Bluesky, and even some apps here on Nostr that I’m shown a lot more content from people I’m not following. This is often due to reposts, quote posts, or just the algorithms at work. While this content can be engaging and spark conversations, it’s often not healthy.

I see people posting obviously or maybe obliviously wrong things, which then get corrected and boosted, creating a vicious cycle. For example, someone mentioned considering a hyphenated name for their kids. I shared how my hyphenated name caused issues with computers, especially with international travel. This led to many calling me a bigot because the original poster was a queer woman. It’s odd because I’m queer myself, but it seems they felt an amab queer shouldn’t share personal experiences directly related to the topic.

I also saw clickbait articles about triathletes vomiting at the end of an Olympic triathlon, blaming it on a polluted river. Yes, the river is polluted, but triathletes often throw up at the end of races, and the swim was two hours before the nausea hit.

These issues occurred on Twitter too, but I didn’t experience it the same way there. I used Twitter daily from the moment Jack invited me and our coworkers onto the service, and for me, the conversations were healthier. I understand that many others had negative experiences, though.

On Nostr, I see zaps often rewarding hot takes and posts that signal membership in one group or another. This seems to exacerbate the issue, as people are incentivized to make posts that cater to specific in-groups rather than fostering genuine dialogue.

My worry is that maybe we’re actually doing worse with the new platforms. Is this something other people are seeing? How do we navigate this and foster healthier online conversations?

More flexible filters, algorithms, that allow you to specify exactly what you want to see solve this right? Weren't you guys at nos.social building something that allowed that flexibility?

I'm interested in this space too. I think there were other flexible clients too but I haven't researched much.

What are the most flexible algorithm or filter customizable Nostr clients out there? Anyone aware?

Survey: German Industry Faces Crisis: Energy Policy and Bureaucracy to Blame

A recent survey by the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (DIHK) reveals alarming trends in the country's economic landscape, with shrinking industry and rising unemployment. The primary culprit? Germany's energy policy.

For twelve years, the DIHK has conducted the Energiewende-Barometer, where businesses rate the impact of renewable energy transition on their operations. Initially optimistic, ratings have plummeted to a current -20, slightly up from last year’s historic low of -27. Deputy Chief Executive Achim Dercks attributes this minor improvement to temporary lower energy prices, benefiting service providers but failing to meet the industrial sector's needs for consistently affordable and predictable energy costs.

Industrial businesses have expressed severe dissatisfaction, rating the Energiewende's impact at -34. Many companies are contemplating relocating due to high energy prices and bureaucratic hurdles, with 37% considering reducing or moving production abroad, up from 16% in 2022.

The DIHK proposes ten measures to address these issues, including lowering taxes on electricity, accelerating grid expansion, and establishing a credible strategy for hydrogen imports. The lack of action on these fronts leaves Germany's industry in a precarious position, with potential long-term repercussions for the broader European economy.

Where would they move production? Poland has very cheap electricity right?

Sure, but to fair Bitcoin is also used worldwide. But yeah, I like Monero very much. I love both. It's great to have both.

I don't understand or care about these wars. I care about other things.
