that made me look up the etymology of engine, apparently engine has the same root as ingenious which makes a lot of sense.
#asknostr What were engineers called before engines?
GM nostr
The one positive thing about Elon buying Twitter is now he's contained. It's like the crazy guy standing on the same corner everyday, all you have to do is avoid that one spot. #nostr #freespeach
I agree, a caffeinated population is bound to be more productive than a drunk one. We do have Espresso martinis and Irish coffees ☕
I've always had this sentiment about town squares, if people complained in person and literally got on their soap box like they do online we would put a lot more pressure on policy makers. I think this is partly by design. The hypercapitalization of society has also played a big part, community spaces aren't as welcoming as they used to be. Store owners no longer run businesses, it's a regional manager and who ever they can get to work for them. It took the soul out of the business when they pushed out local owners. One thing that does come to mind is the local tavern, while Starbucks has run nearly every local coffee shop out of business in my city at least bars have been the dominant social gathering places and their is plenty of shoulder rubbing going on.
overall I had a great upbringing but yea I don't think no rules is the secret to parenting, in my opinion setting a good example is the most important thing.
granted I don't know what their parenting style was behind the scenes
Combination of lenient parents and a stubborn kid, my parents were also divorced so I was put in a trophy child position and could basically do what ever I wanted.
#nostr for anyone else who wants to learn more about #programming I found this great website, answered a lot of quistions for me.
The #Constitution was created to protect freedoms not create laws, gut the federal government and their so called "rules and regulations"
I was basically this child and I would have absolutely benefited from more structure/rules in my early life.
I've been thinking about this a lot, my mom is a library director at a university built in 1780s I've been meaning to go check out all the old stuff that isn't on the shelves anymore
also the fact that carpenters don't make enough to attract quality labor, carpenters are seen as a bottom rung trade and not glorified
I would hope under a bitcoin centric world people will start to revert back to quality craftsmanship
craftsmanship will also go up when we stop building out of sticks and paper
I 100% agree, if you're going to build big at least be original. Homarama neighrborhoods are popular in my area and they are so ugly
actually most people are average in these aspects, according to the bell curve. Thinking everyone is dumb is an easy was to become arrogant yourself.
everyone says #cats are so smart but mine is chewing on a zipper right now
I agree as a commodity and talks about a reserve it seems like the dollar or another currency will be backed by Bitcoin
