You don't need to! You can just tap on the top right icon to make the permanent notification and the background job to disappear

Probably the difference is that Amethyst connects to outbox and inbox relays, while Pokey only connects to your inbox

It something really difficult to test .Do you have only that relay configured as public inbox relay? If clients does not make use of the outbox model and your list is too short, its likely you'll miss most of the notes.
