Handyman engineer. I bounce from project to project. I'm often called in to do the finishing touches, bringing 90% complete projects over the finish line. I'm good at making disparate systems talk to each other. * Zaps powered by nostr:nprofile1qqsf07zg4hxyccnkdp07fppxmetpfzru3fg6mgzx3nk8r7af8qnjjyg76vulm * On-chain powered by nostr:nprofile1qqsvxq03xdev3uxehjqcdkr5lfzl5vawmcf7vm6ps73m6ghwg8y4k2shaefxp *Always Buy the Dip* #privacy #security #linux #Android #networkengineer #infosec #SimpleX #dogs #cats #pets #cooking

True. uno@nostr.com is legit AF. I use a NIP-05 through my personal relay. It was 21 sats, and you can keep your outbox relays configured so that anyone who uses it has accurate access to your notes just from the NIP-05. A lot of them don't come with that relay customization, which makes them less useful, even if the name is better.

Wow that's a lot. Especially given how many organizations offer them for free, or for a few sats.

That was the intended purpose, and how it originally was, but these days you're more likely to find operations like "Trump University" with a .edu TLD.

I've heard that same concern from new Meshtastic users, and many have been pleasantly surprised to find that there are nodes within networking distance from their location. Obviously that's not going to be the case for everyone, but if you live in a populated area, you may be surprised.

What fun is that? Building an ad hoc mesh network and talking to other like-minded nerds from across the network is a lot more amusing.

Ok, cool. I'm gonna look into it further. It's sounds like fun, and a cool project.

Ok so generally speaking, it's a network that facilitates communication with other network users? So, you have a user identity, or a node identity, and you can have public or private chats with other users of the mesh network?

I love the Thanksgiving Day Parade. My dad took me a few times when I was a kid. I went once as an adult and it was a totally different experience. The crowds are maddening, and it makes me feel like a tourist who spends all his NY vacation in Time Square.

But for the sake of explaining it to a 7yo, post office might be an easier analogy. 🤔

I think they're more like Amazon shipping hubs.

I still don't understand Meshtastic. I understand the tech and the transmission of data over radio, but where is the internet access coming from? Is their an ISP that provides service to the Meshtastic network? And what's the bandwidth like? Is it just basic text, or can you stream and do all the stuff you can do with broadband?

Pro tip: cut your bird in half along the breast bone and lay each half cut side down on a half-pan. It cuts the cook time in half and it eliminates the uneven cooking that comes with roasting the bird whole. Your meat will be tender and juicy throughout instead of the breast being dry while the thighs and legs are undercooked.

Plus, it's bigger! You get like one day of chicken leftovers. But turkey leftovers last at least a week.
