Heads up nostr:npub10td4yrp6cl9kmjp9x5yd7r8pm96a5j07lk5mtj2kw39qf8frpt8qm9x2wl I am seeing the issue too
Ok thanks for checking in. I guess it's a server problem, or a connectivity issue. I was worried it might have been a problem on my end
Is anyone else having issues with relay.0xchat.com? I haven't been able to connect for like two days, and it's not returning any information on legacy.nostr.watch.
How come people don't do that little hop-step and tap their heels together when they're happy anymore? π€ #musings
Even if it was real, why TF would you voluntarily send money to a rich guy with no plausible need for your sats? I don't understand this compulsion to just give money to the people who need it the least.
Thanks Boston!
I am certainly not an expert when it comes to Amethyst relay settings but you are right about how filter works.
Filter reads from (and deduplicates) and broadcasts to a list of public relays so that you donβt need to make all those individual connections.
Filter also broadcast notes to 3 of the recipients (tagged users) NIP-65 relays.
Though filter will not accept notes directly from non-subscribers (and thus shouldnβt be placed in an inbox/outbox list, it will pick up notes that come through any of the public relays automatically.
Without knowing for sure, the way youβve set it up sounds correct to me!
In case you need more info about filter there is a fairly long readme here: https://filter.nostr.wine
I've been using filter with Amethyst for about a month now, and I think it's fantastic! I use it as a general relay, and a search relay.
It's the foundation of my general relay config. I start with filter, then I add other relays (that filter isn't already aggregating) that provide specific content I want in my feed. It's very fast as well. My feed loads immediately on startup instead of taking 30 seconds to fetch from all those relays.
This method has greatly improved my relay efficiency, and eliminated the need to have 20 general relays configured. Instead, I've got just 6!
For some reason, this meme always makes me crack up π I appreciate you using it!
There's about 3 hours left before my little contest ends. If you'd like to win access to my paid Nostr1.com Public Inbox/Outbox relay for a year, just zap this note with any amount. Contest ends at 11pm UTC.
I agree. And that's not to say SxC is devoid of external libraries that support specific functionality. But wherever reasonable, original coding is used instead of taking bits and pieces from other people's projects. Not a lot of recycled code in the SxC universe.
No dummy. The programming of the site isn't the issue. It's the design, layout, and flow that is the domain of Web designers, and not coders. Duuurrrrrrrpppp
I see this so often from developers and engineers. At some point, they got it into their head that they're also competent website designers and they end up creating sites that are absolute garbage. They're like, "well, I can write code so that means I can easily whip up competent website that meets the needs to the intended audience!" Lol no.
There's a reason website development and UX design are entirely seperate careers. With few exceptions, devs aren't qualified to create effective websites. It's just not the same skillset. And then they typically get defensive when you offer up any criticism, and they double down on insisting that it's good enough.
Effective, professional websites need both competent programmers, and competent designers. And this is a perfect example of that delusional mistake.
I wouldn't drink that if it was the last consumable moisture on earth. Death is preferable.
In terms of the UX, it's definitely a bit rough around the edges as I think more of Vitor's efforts have been focused on functionality. YakiHonne still has some functionality issues, but the UX is a polished product. I think both reflect the priorities of the developers.
I think Amethyst and YakiHonne serve somewhat different purposes. Aside from both being full-featured clients, YakiHonne provides superior long-form note functionality, and is setup almost like a digital magazine. It's UX is beautiful, and I think it appeals more to the iPhone aesthetic.
Amethyst, on the other hand, is a more straightforward feed client that provides a more fixed experience. I use Amethyst for most of my Nostring, but use YakiHonne for long-form notes and articles, and when I want to discover and browse the Nostr universe.
I believe there's room for both in the Nostr ecosystem, and don't view them as competitors, but compliments.
It's the Japanese Snuggy!
I don't buy it. I'm not a fan of her music, but I believe she does her own singing at concerts. Maybe there's an exception or two, like maybe she was sick one time but still wanted to do the show. And maybe some exhibition performances, like television appearances.
That looks amazing! Are you selling these? Or is this just a one-off you made for yourself? I'd like one of those.
My dad was the king of lack of foresight. His life was littered with amazing opportunities that he passed up because he decided it wouldn't be worth it.
When Blockbuster was just starting, he was offered as many franchises as he wanted in the state of NJ for $10k each. He considered the offer and decided it would be a gimmick, and that nobody would want to pay to rent movies.
Oddly, he was also obsessed with technology and always bought the latest stuff. He got one of the first 50 BetaMax machines commercially available. It with a special certificate from Sony that he actually hung on the fucking wall! π€£
