Handyman engineer. I bounce from project to project. I'm often called in to do the finishing touches, bringing 90% complete projects over the finish line. I'm good at making disparate systems talk to each other. * Zaps powered by nostr:nprofile1qqsf07zg4hxyccnkdp07fppxmetpfzru3fg6mgzx3nk8r7af8qnjjyg76vulm * On-chain powered by nostr:nprofile1qqsvxq03xdev3uxehjqcdkr5lfzl5vawmcf7vm6ps73m6ghwg8y4k2shaefxp *Always Buy the Dip* #privacy #security #linux #Android #networkengineer #infosec #SimpleX #dogs #cats #pets #cooking

Kids these days don't understand the power of the 80s montage. What's your favorite? I go back and forth on a few of them, but this scene from the movie Rad where Cru Jones and his girlfriend Christian put on a bike dance to Send Me an Angel is always in my top 5. I wish we could go back to these days. #blog

When it's time to buy the Lamborghinis, you're a beta bitcoiner if this isn't the model you select. This crazy rare Lambo only has enough room for you and your balls, so your pals will have to wait on the side of the road while you romp this bitch. Get one! #blog

How would that even work? All due respect to tribes, but they don't have anywhere near the manpower, or military that the American sovereign nations have. I don't see how this would practically work.

Awesome! Good to know. I think this feature is a great addition to the Zap Store!

I ended my association with Facebook back in 2013. I am not the intended target of this note.

When you zap a developer through the Zap Store, does it go to the dev's wallet, or does it go to Zap Store for later redistribution to the devs?

Pretty sure Russia grinds up its vets into potato powder to help feed the population. It's sorta like a Soylent Green situation.

I've heard lots of people having trouble with Primal's integrated lightning wallet. If you use the Android version, you can connect an external wallet via NWC, but I don't think iOS offers that functionality.

It's not really obscure. It's just Bitcoin on a different layer, similar to lightning. And it's interoperable with Lightning. Whenever you hear about ecash, they're talking about Cashu tokens. And Cashu isn't required for Keychat. You can just use Lightning to top-up your Keychat wallet.

I awake AF right now. I just finished making a big pot of Louisiana Red Beans & Rice, and now I'm going to watch a show or two before I go to sleep. I love being awake when the world is asleep.

I haven't used Twitch, and I haven't used Twitter since 2015. So, my knowledge of these platforms comes from the outside looking in. How do micropayments work on Twitch? What is the payment medium? Is it something like zaps where users can send small micropayments to content creators?

Bitcoin's doing some heavy lifting over here!

Having a payment system is only half to battle. You need a altruistic culture that enjoys sending regular micropayments as way of expressing approval and support. We have that. Twitter doesn't. Twitter has a selfish shitcoin culture, and low-quality users who wouldn't understand the concept of sending money to other users based on posted content.

MobileCoin is so awful. I think the Signal people would admit it was a huge mistake.

It uses the same "double ratchet" encryption protocol, but with its own implementation. Provided Keychat runs a competent implementation, which I believe they do, it should be as secure as Signal/Molly Messenger. But the encryption protocol isn't the only component you have to consider when judging the security of a messaging platform. How the protocol is implemented is equally as important.

I've used Keychat a bunch of times and I'm really impressed with what they've created. They've created a competent and reliable system with verifiable security. Unfortunately, it seems as though it hasn't been widely adopted as most nostr users seem content to continue using NIP-04 DMs. NIP-17 adoption is apparently a distant 2nd place. As a security advocate, I wish more people would incorporate Keychat into their regular nostr usage. We all benefit when more people use strong communication encryption.

Maybe it's like with sports teams. The team could absolutely suck, but their fans continue to support them and angrily defend them against any criticism. Meanwhile, they could easily find a better team to support, but they just stick with the one that sucks.
