I just partecipated in a international conference where, among other things, there was a presentation and discussion about "digital citizensip". The main presenter was someone working with the Council of Europe, and then there were two discussants from academia who commented on his presentation. We are talking about some of the major "experts" in the field.
They basically confirmed what I already suspected, that both political insitutions and academia don't really base their work on reality, but rather on a small walled garden. Academia complains about all the problems social media have (monetization model was one of them), and politics wants to regulate everything and censor (though of course coated in sugar "for our own good"). But they only look at established major platforms (apparently they don't even know Minds).
So after the conference I went to talk with the three experts, and I suggested that they should really look outside the box as humanity is spontaneusly and mostly freely solving (or has already solved) basically all the problems they were talking about, presenting a number of possible solution for any problem. They looked at me like I was from Mars. My impression is that they cannot even imagine that something can happen outside of they control and overseeing. They are so completely detached from reality and obsolete...

Have you ever considered that politicians are fully aware of the evil they do? And that it is exactly what they want? The state is the devil's most successful corruption.
Why Bizarre? If the "virtues" signaled are in fact not virtues at all (mostly the opposite in fact), signaling them becomes justly negative.

An interesting opinion, that describes the symptoms without indetifying the illness, and therefore fails to come up with a cure beyond wishful thinking and "shoulds".
The illness is fiat money and the resulting reduction to zero of time preferences. The cure is separating money and political power. The cure is Bitcoin.
