You want to know far the federal government has strayed from its original mission? When considering an action by the government ask: Is this a domestic affair or a foreign affair? Most of what the federal govt is doing today is domestic, which is the proper job of the States. Social security, DOE, EPA, FDA, IRS, and the perverted, inward-facing actions of the FBI, and CIA are just a few examples. The intrusion of the federal govt into domestic affairs began in earnest after 1913 with the creation of the income tax and central bank. States acquiesced their sovereignty to gain access to the money. To preserve the Union, we MUST end the Federal Reserve and repeal the 16th (and 17th) amendments.

It's hard to believe that won't have some impact.
