I don’t know where you have been. But here in Argentina for example you need the client of the Uber in the front seat as if he/her is your friend or family. If the clients is in the back, then you are a driver, and you need special license, special permissions and other things. It’s not cultural, it’s the shitty government all over again

Maybe it’s because I work with spreadsheets and boring finance stuff all day, but in terms of fiction I often gravitate toward more fantastical things, like fantasy and sci fi.

I figure if I’m going to read or watch fiction, instead of seeing people navigate boring real life problems, I might as well go all the way and see them try to take down a magical dark lord or something.

But in terms of boring real life movies, there are some amazing ones that hit me anyway despite those preferences. Like Michael Clayton was sooo good even though legal thrillers aren’t my thing. Hard to believe it’s approaching two decades old.

Here's an anecdotal data point on Nostr.

Yesterday I asked people on both Nostr and Twitter what tropes in fiction they don't like. I have about 10x the followers on Twitter than Nostr, but I only received like 6x the number of replies on Twitter.

So Nostr had a higher relative engagement rate.

I feel like they already successfully memory holed the fact that Biden is still the President of the US.

I've got weak taste so I mostly don't notice the difference between 8/10 sushi and 10/10 sushi.

We have basically a 8/10 hole-in-the-wall sushi place near us, and the owner and a senior waiter know my husband and I, and so as soon as we walk in, they just bring us to our seat (they know our preferred seats) and start getting us our normal order and ask if we want any modifications to our normal order.

And then I go to NYC or London or Hong Kong top sushi restaurants for 3x the price when I'm there, and to me it's only like 1.1x as good as my local hole-in-the-wall place. The difference I notice is consistency. The tuna in my local place varies a little bit whereas the tuna at the expensive places is more consistent, but the top-ends of both are similar to me. As a result my default favorite place is honestly just my local spot so far since they're my dudes. Haven't been to Japan yet though.

Cairo is not a great sushi place, so when I live there for part of each year even at fancy places I'd put it at 6/10 or 7/10. I notice their weakness vs my preferred American local spot. Egypt is amazing at grilled fish, though. Haven't found better grilled fish outside of Alexandria and Cairo.

Steaks hit me harder in the top end than sushi for some reason. I'm more picky between 10/10 steak and 8/10 steak than 10/10 tuna and 8/10 tuna.

They are literally scam pushers. Therefore, they can be counted on to downplay honest money, as it offers them no way to grift.

Playing around with Coinbase lightning integration and just had to mention how insidious it is to use the term 'varies' for lightning as if it's not the cheapest option (unless you decide you want to wrap it for whatever reason)

The reason seems obvious to me that they clearly want to downplay its utility, speed, and affordability to prop up their useless Base ETH L2 🙄 (even though that would wrap it to cbbtc)

Its like they only begrudgingly integrated lightning. Man I really wish they would lean into it.
