Here's an anecdotal data point on Nostr.
Yesterday I asked people on both Nostr and Twitter what tropes in fiction they don't like. I have about 10x the followers on Twitter than Nostr, but I only received like 6x the number of replies on Twitter.
So Nostr had a higher relative engagement rate.
Was there a difference in the content of replies, as well? Different common answers, etc
For the most part no, with the exception that like the 10% worst people on Twitter are worse than the 10% worst people on Nostr, so there’s a more noticeable left tail of bad replies, even though the replies are otherwise similar.
That’s to be expected, honestly. I’m still holding out hope (call it cautious optimism) that if and when Nostr has a user base as large as Twitter, Nostr’s content will still be “better at its worst”, thanks to realigned incentives and algorithmic freedom.
It’s quite inspiring, come to think of it.

Great to hear! However, you are probably the top account on nostr, or close to it. Life for new users is very tough on nostr, right now. They get little engagment or help. At the same time Bluesky are adding 1 million users a month. So there must be some demand.
nostr Lyn is much cooler than Twitter Lyn though. And Twitter users don't even know about your upcoming book.
I keep hoping nostr Lyn will set a different profile picture than Twitter Lyn.

My feeling is that there are more real people wanting to engage at Nostr.

It’s because here, everyone loves you. There, everyone wants to use you as bait for engagement.
One sees, the other objectifies.

I feel the people here really want decentralized platforms to succeed. They have a better long term vision and generally more focus on the correct way to create a better future for humanity.
So basically, Nostr is like the cool coffee shop where everyone’s listening, and Twitter’s the noisy pub where you’re lucky if someone catches half your sentence. Looks like Nostr wins the 'engagement Olympics' with fewer followers but more thoughtful responses.

For what it's worth I follow a LOT more people on twitter than on Nostr, and suspect I'm not alone in that situation.
And it’s obviously real engagement. This is a new fun profile for me but my Twitter engagement and steadily growing followers are 80-90% bots.
